The life and times of an upside down 65' Polara.

Yeah it’s a bit of a pain, quite a strict inspection- a torn steering or suspension boot will fail even if there is no play in the joint. Post 2000 cars get a year and brand new cars get 3 years, it’s an incentive to get old cars off the road. There is a bit of a movement to extend the time for...

    1965 Engine Mounts

Many months later I have an update, yes the poly bracket can be easily drilled to take mount 2228. I used a dremel to grind a pit to accept the nub on the mount also but it probably wouldn't be strictly necessary. It has been on the car for some months now with no issues.

The life and times of an upside down 65' Polara.

A small update on the dodge, here in nz cars built pre 2000 are subject to a 6 monthly safety inspection. It goes in for that this week, so I thought i'd better get it ready. Both outer tie rod boots were split, I replaced the rod end on the rhs as it looked pretty old and just put a new boot on...

The life and times of an upside down 65' Polara.

G'day all, thought i'd post a project thread about my 1965 Polara here in New Zealand. An extremely oddball car here, there are lots of old mustangs & chargers and impalas etc but this car is only the second 65' Polara/monaco I've seen, though I do know of a couple more around the country. I've...

    1965 Engine Mounts

Thanks, i'll get around to it and report back for the next person in this particular basket. I would have gone for the correct mounts too if I had only done my research instead of blindly trusting rockauto.. getting in anything ex u.s takes around 3 weeks for me. I see imperialservices.net has...

    1965 Engine Mounts

Thanks so much for the very useful thread, I just went to change my 65 Polara motor mounts with 2227 & 2228, 2227 fits fine on the passenger side but the drivers side was a head scratcher - this explains why! Has anybody just drilled the top bracket for the single stud? Looks like a simple...

    New Member, New Polara

I just read your thread from the beginning, a great read. Always amazing what bodgery can lie under the paint of an old car, I remember one holden panelvan I had where I discovered new outer sill/rockers had been tacked on top of the original rusted out ones - after grinding off buckets of...

65' Polara instrument voltage reg query

Problem solved, the limiter was in the temperature gauge. I have an aftermarket temp gauge under the dash anyway so I just took the original gauges 12v feed for the new limiter and fed it to the fuel gauge - which luckily seems to work great. The limiter/regulator has a handy usb port for...

65' Polara instrument voltage reg query

Thanks mate, that would be great if its not too much trouble - i'm hoping I know just enough to get er done but would be awesome to have the correct diagram on hand for future reference!

65' Polara instrument voltage reg query

Thanks for that, excellent information in that link - good to know that 3 terminals on the gauge = internal limiter. I'm hoping to pull the cluster tomorrow and see what's what. I probably would use an rte unit if I didn't already have a dc/dc regulator, puts out 3 amp which should be plenty...

65' Polara instrument voltage reg query

G'day all, have read through the many threads regarding the troublesome c body IVR's, and just had a couple of follow up questions if anyone can help. The fuel & temp gauges in my u.s model 1965 polara are dead, and I suspect the IVR as the primary culprit. Any idea if the regulator is external...
