What did you score at Carlisle

A later model $50 Holley 750 vacuum secondary carb. A$40 small primary Carter Thermoquad. Could not find a 1968 turn signal switch.

    Carlisle 2024

There you go back at you, except I've explained too much. Yes they are expensive for junk cars. The nice ones with good stuff should always be expensive. 10k for a slant dart is bullshit, period. Nobody wants a 2010 Challenger or a '80s Daytona neither of which you can buy parts for. I already...

Bring a car, parking solved. No car? Stay home and work on it. Car giveaway, Mopar are just too expensive. Engine giveaway, the only company that was doing it went out of business. No one else wants to do it because you give them a engine they care nothing about and when they blow it up they are...

    Carlisle 2024 Pictures

Thursday night I got no sleep too much going on. Bread truck stuck in row c/d backing all the way around, beeping at 4am. Friday I didn't feel well later in the day asleep by 8 pm. So Saturday is the only night I went out and had some fun.

Cold Case is here to help

Are you sure it's not running lean or not enough vacuum advance. I had a 383 in my Challenger, ran hot on the highway. Put a 400 in it still ran hot but acted lean I bumped up a couple of jet sizes on primaries (Holley) and it does not run as hot on highway.

    Heavy Metal

Friend of my in the Navy had a '76 Vega wagon, he put a 231 Buick in it, too bad it was a auto. I remember he had overheating problems with it. It would idle and not get hot as soon as you would drive it would get hot. Because of the hood that opened toward the front never stood in front when...

    Heavy Metal

They also made the Monza which came with a V8 and much like the Vega easily swallowed a SBC. Buddy of mine had a Monza spider it was pretty gutted car but ran 12.2s with a 3.42:1 rear. It was actually a good daily driver.

Fiberglass scoop install on metal hood

Put it on the there. Plenty of flat hoods on those cars. I would not put a pro stock style hood scoop on, but period scoop is fine.

Brake spindle to backing-plate gasket (how to DIY)

Why! It's not needed. Someone explain what it does in the real world 1960 whatever, then how it is never going to be put through that kind of use again as a hobby car.

383 +30 anyone know how big a exhaust I can put in before I have to clearance the deck?

The 413 bore size was the only one to have a issue with larger valves and that was the 1.88 exhaust. Yes bigger bore will unshroud the valves better, but small block Chevrolets have been moving shitloads of air through EIIEEIIE valve arrangement with 4" bore just fine. So unless you are trying...

    What makes an engine “buck?”

Wire/tie the choke 1/2 shut, drive car. If surge/buck is gone/better it's your carburetor. Otherwise it is ignition, any new condensers can be suspect of being bad ootb or soon after

New AC System Doesn't blow cold enough / 68 Polara 383

Most carburetor problems are ignition timing, and most cooling/heating problem are airflow. Most want to "move more coolant" and it does not fix the problem. Glad you got it sorted out.

    R/B Cylinder Heads 1975 MY 440 HP

They are basically the same, 902,346,975 are all "early" unleaded or low lead heads. The 452 are the true unleaded head with the best offering from the factory hardened seats. Can't remember which ones got which process, but 452 castings have deepest hardening. I have a 902 here with no valves...

    Coolant temp again

If your sucking the lower hose closed/shut you have a restriction in the radiator. Does coolant come out of the radiator if cap left off and revs to 2500 rpm.

    S.A. GEAR 785049R vs MELLING 40407

Anything is better than 50-60 year old nylon coated cam gear. If your not hot rodding it the melling would be fine.

NOT MINE A couple of M-bodies with potential

My Imperial will lose all that, nice blended Y pipe and 2 1/2 single, might drop to 2 1/4 after muffler. Gas tank sits off towards drivers side so dual exhaust would be more/too complicated for a stock 318.

    S.A. GEAR 785049R vs MELLING 40407

Has a thrust bearing on the rear of cam gear. Normally the gear (cast iron, rides against block) similar metals with plenty of splash lube, no problem. Billet or steel gear is harder and will wear the block (softer metal) so they incorporate a thrust bearing or washer on rear of gear. Cam is...
