    1962 300 Sport Coupe - Disk Brake Q

On a 62 Sport, there are two options I like. One is AAJ Brakes, the other is to take the more modern self adjusting/single wheel cylinder set up off a 63 Chrysler. Still drum brakes, but easier to service and setup than the dual cylinder system.

Hurst 300 Stripe Kits - Performance Car Graphics

I have an NOS Hurst stripe kit (no instructions) that has everything but the wheel stripes. Will you be making the wheel stripes available separately? Thanks,

    NOT MINE 1970 Fury Convertible.

Looking at the rot at the bottom of the rear quarters where they meet the rockers below the doors, I think I'd want to put the top down, open both doors, and then see if either of them would shut again. A unibody convertible with rust in that area might not be a trivial or inexpensive repair.

NOT MINE 1955 Chrysler new yorker 2 door HT $7,500 Listed a day ago in Pioneertown, CA

Indeed. When I restored my previous 55 C300, it was because it was the first year for the 'Letter Car' 300, and it was a year of birth car for me as well, and it was back in 1992. Even then, the first 300 was already a 37 year old car that was a bit past its prime (which made it cheap to...

NOT MINE 1955 Chrysler new yorker 2 door HT $7,500 Listed a day ago in Pioneertown, CA

I restored a 55 C300 as a year of birth car, and learned the following- 55 is 6V positive ground electrics, kingpin and coil spring front suspension, 2 speed Powerflite transmission, and a one year only master cylinder/booster for brakes. By 1957, Chrysler had 12V neg ground electrics, ball...

‘61 Newport that is new to me- sorting her out and trying to identify some parts….

I would bet the disc brake conversion is by the AAJ brake conversion company. For Chryslers with 15" wheels, they usually specify GM calipers from a Monte Carlo of the late 70's, and a rotor from a 79 Cordoba. For cars with 14" wheels, the rotors have to come from an A body like a Dart in...

NOT MINE 1962 Chrysler New Yorker $4,950 Santa Paula, CA

Pretty sure a 62 NYer wagon would have a 413 with a 4 bbl carb (I had two of them).

1970 Fury HP Exhaust Manifolds Burn Valve Cover Paint

In my case, on the Hurst, it's not the stock 350 hp 440, but the 375 HP TNT version, like the Super Commando in Plymouth and Magnum motor in Dodge. It has much different exhaust manifolds (factory headers, if you will) that sweep up above the spark plugs and are very close to the valve covers...

1970 Fury HP Exhaust Manifolds Burn Valve Cover Paint

Funny, my car also melted #7, resulting in misfire. Amazing, but consistent. I can't remember the brand of paint off hand, but it was a high heat exhaust manifold paint (grey color), not just an engine enamel. It was a can that you use a brush to apply, not a spray can. I put that on first...

1970 Fury HP Exhaust Manifolds Burn Valve Cover Paint

Yes, that is indeed what they do, even from the factory on day one. I have a 70 Hurst with the HP manifolds on the 440 TNT motor. Not only will the valve cover paint turn a burnt orange over time, if you use cork valve cover gaskets they'll dry out and start to leak, too. Tons of heat...

Which AC compressor. RV2 or Sandon on my 66 New Yorker

I prefer originality, and have always replaced the RV-2 compressor on my 70 Hurst as needed, but in recent years I've found that since there are no actual 'new' compressors anymore, the rebuilt units from places like Rock Auto just don't seem to cut it anymore and I only get a few short years...

Can you help a Small block Chevy guy understand a 1962 Chrysler 413 with cross-ram manifold? - compression and pump gas?

The biggest difference between 61 and 62 Chryslers is that in 61 the cast iron Torqueflite trans was in use, while in 62 a change was made to use the new aluminum case Torqueflite. 61 engines have a different crankshaft than 62 engines because of the different way they connect up to the two...

Might be better off with a 2005 Crossfire- this century's version of the TC idea. ;-)

Fel-Pro cork Valve cover gaskets SUCK!

Yes, those are the ones. Really good luck with them so far.

Filled my rebuilt engine with 6 quarts including filter and dipstick says 1 qt low.

Funny you should mention this, as I've just recently been having the opposite issue on cars that I've owned for over 20 years. 61 Chrysler 300G with 413 and 70 Hurst with 440. The 61 has always taken 5 quarts, 6 with filter, while the 70 has always taken 4 quarts, 5 with filter (verified by...

    If you could have

Given that this is the C-body Forum, my choice was the triple black 70 with TNT. It is a C-body, and the TNT was available, (U code 440 for 375HP), and the Hurst actually has an Imperial leather interior. My Hurst has the console and buckets, plus tilt-telescopic-rim-blow steering wheel. If we...

    If you could have

1970 triple black 2 door with TNT 440. A/C and power everything, of course. Since I could never find one, I went with a Hurst 300.

    Not sure about Vansauto

Since I'm not a metal fabricator (nor do I want to become one), I'm thankful I can even get something 'close' to then work with so I can keep my car operational. As I said in another post, the alternative is to drive something like a 57 Chevy, a Mustang, or Corvette if you want a huge inventory...

Restoration parts companies rant! Van's & Mr Moparts

Life will be much easier if you choose to drive a Ford Model A, Mustang, or a Chevy Camaro, Corvette, or a GTO from Pontiac. I'm amazed that there are any parts available for such a niche market as 50+ year old C-body Mopars that they made relatively few of in the first place. I'm very...
