ID my Carb, please (for a rebuild kit)

Its my fault for posting on one platform (desktop) and then editing it on my mobile to post the pictures. I know it deleted some of the post and I never gave it a final proofreading again after it reposted. It’s a ‘68 Chrysler with 383 (and automatic - never would have guessed they used...

ID my Carb, please (for a rebuild kit)

Thank you. I see on The Carb Shop's website he states: Therefore, the numbers moulded on the carb may well be meaningless. I would think they must mean something to someone or they would not have been put on there but I suppose that could just be an external casting number and the internals...

ID my Carb, please (for a rebuild kit)

Looking online for rebuild kits, I checked out Rockauto and they list 2 different ones for 1968 BBD for a 383. WALKER PRODUCTS 15479B and STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS 1565B from: Rock Auto The Carb Doctor lists one which is the same style as the Walker one from Rockauto but the carb numbers...

ID my Carb, please (for a rebuild kit)

Well... No. First I would have to search for Carter and that number on the carb does not tell me if it is stock or off something else nor if it’s the model number. As for trusting what is posted online I see enough contradictions and corrections and back and forth on here, alone, to know even...

ID my Carb, please (for a rebuild kit)

Is it the C in the circle that identifies it as a Carter? Also, how does it identify as a 4421s? It only has “6-1790” cast on it?

ID my Carb, please (for a rebuild kit)

Time to rebuild my carb. Problem, I am not sure the model/make so I can order the proper kit. I will post some pictures of it. (Also, if you notice anything off - springs, clips, wires, etc in the wrong place, please let me know - I am still learning.) Thank you, in advance!

    My rebuilt 440

27 IS cold as water freezes at 32. Fun story. A friend is an engineer and another flew in one day from Southern Cal and was super excited to see all the cars in the firm’s parking lot plugged in and he kept going on about how great it was everyone had electric cars. Then there’s the other...

    Changing Distributors

I went this evening and picked it up. Thank you. The basic version. Just a note for those in Canada, a manager at Canadian Tire told me their product is priced way too high and the only reasonable way to purchase their products is when they are on sale (often 66 - 75% off on sales).

    My rebuilt 440

Off eBay? (The brackets). I looked at ones on there as my alternator bracket was sheered in two somehow. I just welded it when I priced out the brackets locally. I should have painted them when I had them off but I wanted to throw it back together the same day and drive it. That’s a...

    Changing Distributors

I’ll keep that in mind! I really don’t know what was done when on this car but if the ignition system (shocks, condition of top, every interior bulb being burned out) was any indication it must have sat for a number of years after being well driven. My goal is a reliable daily driver restored...

    Changing Distributors

Well, the distributor came pre-gapped at 0.017”. Prelubed as well. The only marks on it are an ‘A’ and a ‘B’ on the upper shaft. The black distributor cap IS well machined and marked ‘Made in USA’. (Brown would be better but I am impressed with the machining and casting.). Isn’t black pre-66...

    Queer car

Not a thread hijack but I have to admit lately I miss my 76 Dodge Charger Daytona. I hated that car (body style) but loved it too (ran and drove really nice and never ever let me down). Bullet proof 400 but transmission did need some work once. Kind of wish I would have kept it for the...

    Changing Distributors

I know you keep saying I’m in Germany but you’ll have to go back to before the Angles, Saxons and Jutes to find my ancestors there. The rest will be found in Caledonia and/or Pictland (Scotland) at that time period. I’ve checked the used buy/sell websites too. Nothing. Yes, Sears is a decent...

    Changing Distributors

It’s a 383. No parts shops here have timing lights for rent. Already asked. Yes, I do have to get one, but everyone seems to have gotten rid of them “to the farm” ... I’m sure lots of people just threw them away decades ago. It’s an Autolite, says reman. But done here in Canuckistan. I...

    Changing Distributors

A quick question. I have a new distributor that came with my car when I bought it last year. I did not install it but swapped out the distributor cap and rotor (it was running poorly and I was trying to help teach my daughters, who are getting near driving age to learn basics like changing...

Carb Air Cleaner Rod - How to tighten?

That is what I thought it should be. Otherwise it’s counterproductive and illogical.

Carb Air Cleaner Rod - How to tighten?

That’s what I was thinking (remove the carb for inspection).

Carb Air Cleaner Rod - How to tighten?

The wingnut has always turned very easily until last night. The rod would not come out or tighten by turning it clockwise - but it was spinning freely; turning it counter-clockwise tightened it.
