    Empty nester

My son lived in Newark DE for a year. Just south west from Wilmington. Seemed to be a decent college town (Home of the Delaware Blue hens). He never had any issues there. An hour or so from the Philly airport. Being from ND he did not like the Traffic.

Found another project ‘74 Suzuki TC125 Prospector

The old Suzuki’s have a pretty robust oil injection system one line lubes the piston and one the main roller bearing. As the throttle increases the pump pressure and volume increases. I am sure we used whatever 2cycle the Cenex carried.

I measured the piston and bore. It was actually in really good shape and the bore still relatively round. Spec was no more than 0.002 between 6 different measurements between smallest and largest. Was at 0.001 to 0.0015. Depending on how I held my bore gauge. So I will just hone it out and...

Engine pictures. I take a lot so I can remember how the little parts go.

Started tearing my engine down to see how much work or refreshing I need to do. Turns out the eight different puller sets I own are not quite right for motorcycles. So I had to add a few new pullers and installation tools. Good thing they are fairly cheap. I guess now I need to go into the...

Parts washing solvent, petroleum or Water based?

So I looked up Varosl. It was made by Exxon and is the same as odorless mineral spirits. The stuff I got from TSC doesn’t have much odor at all. And smells just like my Kleen Coat odorless mineral spirits. The fumes from my new PSC1000 solvent are much less than the fumes from my previous...

Parts washing solvent, petroleum or Water based?

I drove the 40 miles to get this from TSC (Tractor Supply Co). At $20 cheaper per 5 gallons cheaper than anything I could find in Fargo, I figured I would burn the gas.

Parts washing solvent, petroleum or Water based?

They say on some of the water based ones that they have rust inhibitors, so maybe they are getting better.

Parts washing solvent, petroleum or Water based?

I have always had a parts washing solvent tank. To be fair it is only used in spurts and then sits for a few years. I have typically used petroleum based solvents. I did try the water based concentrate type part way through my car restoration but didn’t like it as it would flash rust. On the...

I am not too concerned about the weld penetration as I had to heat it and bend /hammer/forge it to the right angle and position. First attempt the bike sat up too straight and the kickstand was a little too far from the frame when up. Getting a little better, but sticking out to far when up...

Also had to re build the kickstand mount as it had been torn off. This was a challenge as I had to shape and weld progressively thicker material to the thin tube. Started with tracing out a pattern using what was left of mine and pictures from the internet. Positioning the kickstand...

Been a couple of years since my last update on the Suzuki TC125 build. I have some catching up to do. Since July 2021 I haven’t made a lot of cosmetic changes, but have a good start on the core. I had to brush up on my welding and fabrication skills to fix my broken/cracked frame. Where the...

    6v-71 supercharger rebuild issues

I think @amazinblue82 went through an engine refresh for his bus thread. Which I believe had the Detroit Diesel. Not sure if he rebuilt the supercharger.

    6v-71 supercharger rebuild issues

It has been over 36 years since I had one of those apart from a backwards running bus engine. I recall correctly that split ring kind of functions like a piston ring. To keep the compression in the blower box. I would need to see the blower box where it rides. Remember that box sees a lot of...

    Guilty Pleasures

What started out as just me, my wife and son. Now our daughter came home so one more. Then my wife and daughter “adopted” the family that my daughter nannied for last summer. Great people but only the dad and 10 month old can come as his wife is doing her residency and has to work today. So...

What did you do to your C-body today....

Did my yearly lube of the manifold heat valve with the official solvent. Back in ‘68. It was called Manifold heat control solvent 2525054. The original p/n crossed many times gives you the Mopar rust penetrant 04318039AE. Also cleaned off the dust and covered for the winter.

Did French owned Mopar come up with a silly idea? 2025 Ramcharger

I would love to see the manufacturing costs between the different options for the power plant. I am mixing the REV and the Ramcharger scenarios. If the REV 168KWh battery and power plant is $X. I would imagine the 229kWh option is $X times 1.5. (Not up to speed on mfg costs of batteries by kWh...

Did French owned Mopar come up with a silly idea? 2025 Ramcharger

The mileage calculation is assuming that it is using the full 27 gallons. Is the range limited to the power used where the batteries discharge faster than the charging input while driving or does it use all 27 gallons? It will be interesting to see the test data.

Did French owned Mopar come up with a silly idea? 2025 Ramcharger

I am interested in keeping up with this as the information keeps coming. I found a good article on this a few days ago. A 200 mile hybrid or full electric doesn’t get my attention. A 600 mile range is interesting. The thing about a generator is that it is running at a constant speed and a preset...
