Hi, has anyone ever installed a drain plug into the 8 /34" diff housing?
With my factory setup, All I can do is suck it out from the filler plug or loosen the pumpkin from the housing and watch it drain..
Any comments?o_O
Hi everyone,
I have the diff out of the car and see that my diff leaf spring perches have seen better days.
Has anyone replaced theirs in the past on the 8 3/4 housing?
Well i was in a make a video mood tonight after adjusting the tappets so I made a quick vid of me adjusting the carb on my Poly as well.
the sound gets pretty muffled during the adjustment as I leaned in to adjust the left bank but is better when I did the right side.
It's a bit blurry from...
Ok so I'm smoothing out things here and see that the FSM states I should adjust the Rockers once the engine is up to operating temps.
I wanted to know if anyone has adjusted the tappetts doing this then after a good cool down checked the valve clearances...
If yes then,
1) What was you...
With all the work I have been doing to the Polara, I decided to bend up a pair of new lines.
The old ones were functional but looked like hell.
(see the 1st photo here..)
Plus with the front clip off still it was much easier to do now and near impossible once it is all back together.
I laid the...
I hate to admit this but I want to save anyone else with a Poly from making this mistake..
I installed a set of spark plugs into my 318 poly in order to paint it up as many have seen.
They were longer than the ones that came out but what the heck I thought it was only a temp installation.
I...
So I posted about the leak in my transmission last week.
Changed the seals out but it leaked still after changing out the seals.
So I decided to take it to a local trans shop that specializes in older cars.
Turns out my pump is cracked!
The trans guy here hasn't seen a cracked one before...
The donor engine has previoulsy been rebuilt by Chrysler certified rebuilder - you can take this for what that is worth but it's a cool looking tag.. :D
The tag shows .010" on the mains & rods & .040" over on the pistons.
The PO had changed the oil every 800 to 1500 miles. records included with...
Hi there you 727 transmission experts!
have a look at the photo here and give your advice as to where this leak is coming from.
I have learned that a 727 that sits for more than 3 to 5 days can have the convertor drain back into the case then put the trans into an over filled state causing...
I have run into a big bump in the road for my Stub Frame project that everyone has been following.
My Poly 318 is in need of a total rebuild to make it proper.
I was hoping for a cleaning & re-seal of the engine but
The mains & con bearings are worn.
There is babbitt in the oil pump pick up...
Hi there,
I am tearing down my 318 poly and found a steel rod in the water jacket on the right cylinder head.
Can't say I am familiar enough with the poly's to say if this is normal.:edgy:
the left bank doesn't have this rod..
Any opinions out there?
And now it's time to play the game, It's time to play the game.....
For those of you who grew up watching Sesame Street, you know the tune and it is now stuck in your head! :yaayy::yaayy::yaayy:
Seriously, I noticed this issue when tearing my beloved 318 Poly down yesterday..
Seriously Elmo...
I thought I had a 727 Transmission but...
This makes me think it is a 904..
According to the model spec, the 925 was only used with the "buzzin' half dozen's" or older smaller Poly engines.
It's a Canadian built 66 Polara 880 model with a Poly 318.
