One of my mechanics ordered a wiring diagram for this car and what arrived is a C 3738 and 39. This is a C 40, 323.5 flathead.

The diagram that arrived states it’s a positive ground.

This car set up as negative ground and the mechanic I bought the car from states everything is completely original.

Anybody know the real answer?

Thanks in advance for your help.

A few Imperials had negative grounds in '55 the rest of Chrysler products switched to negative ground in '56. To the best of my knowledge the ones made before that were all positive grounds.

Many thx for the reply! Any guesses how I can confirm either way?

If you are going to be working on this car, you should get a factory service manual. Google 1948 imperial service manual. They are available as reprints for about $50. Another alternative would be to contact the Imperial club at www.imperialclub.com.
