I had a bad switch - the plastic tab for the spring had broken off. Since it was broken I felt I had nothing to loose in trying to fix. I used an .024 drill bit and drilled a hole at the top of the broken tab placement on the swing arm ( thickest position on the swing arm) I then cut a 1/4 inch or so from the shank of the drill bit and fit it in the hole and super glued it in place making sure the arm moved freely. I left it for a day and then connected the spring (not easy). Once connected the arm worked as it should and I was able to install and test. All worked as it should. I didn't think it would work so didn't document as well as I should but I've included pictures of finished product The amp meter show a short in the switch when the lever is in the reverse position - a good thing!
