Ah. The Fusible Link of the valve train. Makes a lot of sense.

I used to work on a AMC Hornet back in the 80s
The rockers would regularly shift causing the push rods to jump out from where they should have been.
Customer never wanted to spend the money to fix it right.
They still put 80 $ in our pocket every few months though.
They eventually sold the car.
 
I one time on my '70 300 put a pushrod rite thru' ah rocker arm! Damndest thing I ever saw and never did figure out why or how. Valve good, spring and keeperz good? Lifted the rocker shaft off and hoisted the speared rocker and push rod out of the hole, replaced both and buttened it back up and never had ah problem after that?
