A quick question for you mopar experts out there . When placing a 1406 eddy on a stock 71 New Yorker 440 do I require the adapter? A few years back I put a 1406 on a 74 Road Runner which had the 360 and the adapter was required I believe the 360 had a carter carb but i am not 100% sure the 440 has the Carter so I am thinking that the adapter is required plus the throttle linkage adapters any other tips when changing over to an eddy what about the cruise control? Will I be able to take the piece of the Carter throttle linkage and transver it onto the eddy. .any suggestions would be appreciated. .thanks guys

Yup I believe you need a spread bore to square bore adapter! I needed on on my 75 Newport. That's a nice new Yorker you've got there!!

The edelbrock adapter runs about $20. I'm doing this same swap on my T&C soon. The linkage adapter was reasonable too. I'm using the eddy 1411.

The 360 had a Carter Thermoquad (spread bore, meaning secondaries were larger than primary bores).
I would think your 440 has a square bore carb? Carter AVS?

Yes it is a carter avs and the primary bores are smaller than the secondaries thanks for the reply.

You will need the adapter if you took a Thermoquad or other such spreadbore carb off that intake. If it looks like this yes..

No if it looks like this....

Does the 440 have a spread bore intake or a square bore intake?
You will need the adapter if the manifold is a spread bore.

I don't if a 71 air cleaner will work on a 1406. A stock Formal air cleaner will fit on a 1406. Aftermarket air cleaners will hit the electric choke so if you are going with aftermarket you can get a plastic Mr Gasket 1/2" carb spacer from AAP or AZ. They have them on the shelf.

Any reason the 1411 over the 1406 more cfm did your srock breather fit on the 1411..thanks
