1944 Baldwin Locomotive Works Steam Engine. Local pickup only

It says 454 tons or 908,000 pounds.

shoot .. i just moved 29,000 lbs 300 miles. and I did sleep at a Holiday Inn recently. 900K lbs piece of cake. I can do this ... 'ceptin' that 375 large thingie.

seriously nice old locomotive. hoping a deal gets done for it.

Glad to do it .was surprised to see this post .I knew I had the pictures just had to go through my files to locate.
 
From the look of those new hoses and zip-ties, someone had been doing some work on that engine not too long ago.
 
This engine is still sitting at the Pioneer Museum in Bakersfield, as far as I know.

That car won "Best of Show" at this show in 2010.
 
Update on #643. Tender is gone, engine is supposed to be disassembled to move did not see any work going on. Couple of pictures. Could not really

That is either really good or really bad news.
It is supposed to be getting moved to museum in Oh.. They are going to ship it by truck after disassembly. There is a gantry crane at one end assuming to lift it to reduce it to the frame and boiler. If it was getting scrapped it would be gone in a week or so and just cut to pieces on the spot with lances.
