That car for sale is actually a 1949, what was called a First Series. The newly-styled (and uglier) Second Series are also called 1949.

so it seems .. I wish he had included a shot of the straight 8

Early 1949 ('48 body style) Chrylser New Yorker Club Coupe. Straight 8, does not run, rough shape- roof is pushed in from ice off roof of previous owner. Still could make a cool ratrod or lead sled with chopped top or.....? This car will require ALOT, but has potential. No title, just bill of sale from previous owner.812-four/5/four-88/zero/9.

I hate to be sacreligious but I'd put a Buick Fireball straight eight in it because it is an OHV.

I drove a '48 Chrysler New Yorker coupe several years ago that was going through the Kruse Auction here in OKC. It had a straight Eight and the Fluid Drive trans. That was the quietest, smoothest Eight I've ever had the pleasure to drive - even smoother than a couple of '49 Packards I know! If that coupe is complete under the hood, it needs to have the original engine in place, were I to build this car.
