I know that. It just pisses me off.
Like saying: "19xx Fury 2 door convertible.
No Chit azzhole. a TWO door...

You don't deal with insurance brokers or underwriters very often then, do you? My four favourites:
1. asked, speaking of a convertible "How many doors on this car?"
2. "I can't accept this printed copy of your appraisal. I need the original photographs." to which I reply "They're digital, do you want the memory card from my camera?"
3. "You can just fax us the report." (Me) "OK, do you need colour photographs?" (Broker) "yes". (Me) I have a colour fax machine, do you?" (Broker) Um, no... (Me) "Then how do I fax you the colour pictures?"
4. (Broker) "You can just email me the report." (Me) Great! Some time later after I've emailed the report I get the bounced message back stating the recipients email server can't handle a file attachment greater than 10mg. So I call the broker "Tried emailing you the report, but your service provider won't accept the report attachment." (Broker) Oh..... (Me) Do you have a personal email I can send the report to?" (Broker) "No, I only have my work account." (Me) "You don't have your own email at home?" (Broker) "Yes, but that's not here."

Days like this I'm reminded that YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID!

Nope ...... not a hemi. It's variation of the poly engine. 325 cid. also used in Dodges.

Are you saying they didn't make a 325 Hemi or that that is is a 325 Poly instead of the Hemi? This chart may be inaccurate

This chart doesn't show an 325 in a Desoto but I saw the statements above about this type of Desoto being on a Dodge Chassis so did they use Dodge engines or Desoto engines?

The 57 325 engine was built both as a poly, (red ram), and a hemi, (D500 & super D500) for Dodge. The poly version was used in the De Soto Firesweep in 1957. It was a Dodge engine without the red ram disgination.
In 1958 the new 350 "B" engine was used in both Dodge & De Soto..............

The first gen hemi heads bolt on a poly engine same bolt pattern bore spacing just like the poly heads bolt on a LA engine.

I have a pair of first generation 331 hemi heads in brand new condition if anyone is interested. Rockers, headbolts, and valve covers. Came off a 1953 NY I owned.

Well if you're not a 'vette guy you wouldn't necessarily know that.

Is there any advantage to doing this??

And that there is the problem.
A guy interested and with the money to buy a $75k '63 Vette needs to be told that????
And it's yes. Many do.
The human race is beyond stupid.

I think your splitting hairs here, all Desotos had a very distinctive look and I'll not be a part of the even remote idea that they were re badged Dodges! Shame on you for even thinking such an atrocity could have taken place!

The Firesweep used the 122" wheelbase made by Dodge. The Desoto body from the firewall back was simply set onto the Dodge frame. Everything forward of the firewall other than the emblems and bumper are Dodge. I've got nothing against Firesweeps especially as I like driving the shorter 122" over the 126", but it's still a rebadged Dodge. This is common knowledge in the Desoto world, not always easy to accept at first, but it is the truth.

Is there any advantage to doing this??

I don't know... I was merely stating that if anyone who had a poly engine and would like to convert it to a hemi I have the heads. If what the other poster said is true about them using the same block. Might be an interesting project for someone who loves the hemi and couldn't find one or afford one. Just a thought...
