Dust to me says that there wasn't any maintenance or fluid changes done in a long time.

Right...I wanna do the maintenance. I don't know how the flipper or current owner is going to update the oil, plugs or whatever. Leave it all alone. Don't wash it, don't fill the tires with air, don't vacuum the interior, don't change the oil, plugs, air filter, trans filter, brakes, tires. All that adds up to cost that I've gotta switch out regardless. Leave it the fu$k alone if you're selling it

I agree, but the asking price on this vehicle is beyond reasonable and negotiable for the vehicle and condition.

Exactly. If someone is asking top dollars for a car and it looks as if it may have been neglected, it puts doubts in my mind, fair enough, the ad says that it needs tlc, but how hard is it to wash and vacuum a car? Unless it's a true barn find with 30 years of dust on it, then make the effort to present the car as you would when selling your house; clean.

:bs_flag:
Look at it as a buyer not the seller. As the buyer everything is in your favor and not in the sellers. If he does what you expect before the sale then we have less room to wiggle.

The guy that wants this car will buy it the way the ad is ......

Yes, but don't expect 5K off the price just because it's dirty :poke:

I wouldn't my point is an untouched car is more important to me than a touched car. I believe If it was clean the price would be less flexible

The owner may or may not be flexible, the fact that it's being offered for sale as is, tells me that he a) doesn't have the time for it, which means it's been neglected, and/or b) he doesn't care what other people think and probably won't budge too much on price. Then again, someone out there might not care about any of these details and buy it as is just because they can and want to.

So a car that sits for 30 years can't be cared for?

And since you went left middle and right I guess I must say ok

Never mind this crap... haha, I didn't want to start a new thread but what is up with the green, red and gray squares under our names? Add feedback? What the he'll is that? Hahaha

This is what a barn find means to me, dust and probably mice expected, completely different kettle of fish to the DeSoto.
Have these cars been looked after?, no, but at least they were kept out of the elements. Maintained?, obviously not.
It's what I meant by the 'true barn find with 30 years of dust' comment, but it seems like you will find an argument in anything I say, so we agree to disagree, and no, I have not gone 'left middle and right' as you suggest.

:bs_flag:Go back and read my comments again, perhaps the second time around you'll understand what I'm saying :poke:if not, whatever...

I was watching "chasing classic cars" one night and Wayne Carrini found this piece of ****, mouse infested, dust covered hulk of an aluminum bodied Ferrari. Looked like junk to me. No paint, corrosion all over it, the fuel pump sounded exactly like the one in my MGB. I'm thinking what the hell could this pile of junk be worth.... 1.4 million! I nearly choked on my beer. They took it to the auction exactly how they found it, aside from getting it running. It looked like ****. But it was a one of three aluminum bodied cars ever made of that model and year and apparently worth a fortune no matter how deep the dust was. UFB

1.4 million buys a lot of Imperials, C-bodies and muscle cars, not to mention the sacks full of money needed to restore that Ferrari.

This car has about 6 months of dust on it.... who cares? Mine look like this after 3 weeks in my shop and it says nothing about how they're cared for.

And "Will need little TLC" means it will require a total mechanical restoration before you even think of washing this car...
How about some under the hood and under carriage pics? that will tell us if this is a $15,000 barn find!
