1960 Chrysler New Yorker Town & Country

I found some universal that worked well , I will have to find the part #. Had a friend machine me a new load plate out of aluminum, no more dents.

Sweet, even has the Fratzog! I have a spare load plate that's better than the one in the car.

I found that I have a bend on the right inner side of the tailgate. Probably from someone standing on it. Keeps the gate from sealing with the weatherstrip. Looks to be a common problem.

Dan if you able to find the part # that would be great as I am in Australia and don’t want to ship out a dud seal. Your seat belts on the third seat, are they a standard sash type or were they made up.

Here is the pt # I used from Metro Rubber parts. Looking in there catalog it does not look like the same as I had gotten years ago. Might want to get a sample first. The seat belts are oem 64 , had Ssnake Oyl redoe them. I added buckets in the front , we have seat belts for the front , middle and rear seats now.

Beautiful! Have you ever had the roof rack off of one of these? I have a friend who wants to know how it is mounted. The accessory catalog says they only take minutes to install. I'd assume they use the same holes as the roof strips but don't know if you drill through the strips or cut them off.

Last time that was off 20 + years ago. If I remember correctly you take off all the Phillip screws on each stanchion 2 per stanchion , once that is off there are screws that hold the rails to the roof .

Do you remember if the headliner had to be out? I've seen different attachments for the grab handles. My car has nylon inserts at the top of the roof where the handles meet the trim and a Phillips screw holds it down. I got a set of handles off a '60 Pymouth wagon and they had little carriage bolts in the end of the handle and a nut inside the roof. Required removing the headliner panel in the Plymouth. Same casting numbers on the handles though.

Yours came with the rack from the factory? Do you remember if the roof strips go all the way under the rack rails? I've been trying to find one that someone has installed or taken off recently. In 1960, you couldn't get the rack factory installed on a Chrysler, the dealer had to do it.

It came that way , been on since day one . Not sure if dealer installed , I think the strips went all way front to back but again that memory is 20 + years old.

I think it's just the '60 Chrysler you couldn't get it from the factory. I guess they didn't want to mess up the lines of the car. I've been trying to find ones that originally had racks to see if it was on the build card.
