The original 383 was very tired so it and the trans are rebuilt. A friend of mine owns a quality upholstery shop and will do the seats and install headliner. Nearly everything on this one is worn out but I've been wanting one for 25 years so I shopped for 3 years and this was the only one I could afford that wasn't a total rust bucket. At the time there was a #1 condition white one in St Louis for $36,500. I'll be alright on this one when done. Lately I've seen a few Fireflite coupes going for $17-25K depending on condition of #2-3. There was a red one in Canada last year that was sold for high teens and was a good deal.

Original colors are Willow green roof over Cypress green body and that's how it'll go back. I never want green cars but this is the 6th one I've owned so they must like me.

When this one's done I'll be looking for a slab sided hardtop for cruising and enjoying rather than working on all the time.

Nice work so far!

I'm looking forward to see the progress on your De Soto.

It was 2004, lime green 60' Desoto Fireflite hardtop, number 3 condition, daily driver $4,000 in Omaha. I kick myself EVERY day.

My *** is black and blue for selling mine and some others over the years ! NOT to mention the ones I passed on or couldn't afford! LOL That's life!

It is a complete Car, running and driving hardtop. Rusty front floors, straight body. 7,000. very straight car, though.

61 De Soto? They are pretty rare. Do you have any pictures of it yet?

Last year at Carlisle there was a white 61 Desoto coupe, white with red interior said to have original low miles (maybe 10,000 or so?) they were asking $52,000 and it sold.
