Hi all!
Wonder if someone could give some information about my Sotos history in Usa?
Car has been imported to Sweden 2009, then to Finland 2013. I have been told it was bought from Pensylvania to Sweden 2009.
Vin is 7103101262.
Cheers Jarmo

Hi, JJ: Thanks for posting the very nice high-resolution IBM CAR RECORD CARD. I have decoded part of the IBM card and am requesting a picture of the car's fender tag. It is late here and I must go to bed, but here is what I have. The card displays the three-digit order cards with the column number being the first two digits and the punch row (or rows) being the third digit. Immediately, I run into a problem. Column 28 plus a punch at 2 yields 282--an order code for the transmission. I have order code 281=3-speed manual and 283=3-speed automatic. What kind of transmission is in the car? Perhaps a 2-speed Powerflite found in early production models--or a heavy duty 3-speed manual? You should see a 2 under the K on the fender Tag. 291=Power Steering-not on the fender tag as it is automatically installed on all DeSoto's.315=N5=Heater; 342=?=air foam rear seat (front may be automatically installed?); 422=T3=Golden Tone AM Radio; 501=Wheel covers-not on fender tag; 524 = differential ratio. I need to do research on this. Possibly greater than 3.31:1 . 534=35 Amp generator-not on fender tag; last digits of 554 and 562 yield 42=tire size. I need to research this but one source says 8.00 x 14 the 2 means white sidewalls. The car's fender tag will be very helpful to me in developing and testing my decoder. I will send you a free report. Example attached. My 1960 coding needs your help. A picture of the VIN tag would be helpful and a nice addition to my collection. More later on the card decode.
