Wow I didn't know the car well enough, now I see what you are taking about, the cool wrap around factory glass is gone.

The LeBaron didn't have the "cool wrap around glass" that the Crown had. As Commando mentioned it was a plug. The Exner Imperials , with the exception of the limos, didn't have vinyl tops over the plug though. Exner era Imperials had a fibreglass/ asbestos rope that was put into the plug gap and then lead was applied. That bulge is the rope being forced out due to corrosion in the gap.
