Friend of mine called and talked to the owner. Its a chopped hardtop. If it was a real convertible for $1500 I would have already driven to Spokane and bought it.

The 61 two door hardtops had a gorgeous roofline that made the whole car. But the two door sedan roofline was hideous... the angle grinder convertible was likely a good call.

Looks to be solid and complete otherwise. Still a bargin at $1500 as a parts car. I want it anyways. I would drive it around for awhile and enjoy it as a chop top. I know where a 62 rolling Newport coupe shell is. Transfer some sheet metal over. OR take the conv top frame and rear area off my rusty 61 Plymouth conv and make a conv out of it. I have noticed inside of the rusty rockers of the 61 Plymouth conv that there is a heavy gauge steel renforcement that I don't think is there on other models? I have too many unfinished projects going on now to think about.
