That will be a "in the right place at the right time" for someone

Grandkids will look at that car.... say eeeuuuuu..... and flip it cheap.

When have you ever seen that???
Greedy relatives inherit an old car, remember last weeks Mecum auction and ask, er, no, DEMAND 3X the real value.
And usually before the body is cold....

A guy I know down here (comes to my car shows) has a '62 Savoy 2 dr. sedan with a 4 speed. I've begged and begged him for a selling price but he says it's going to the grand kids. Arghhh

Find out who they are they'll be selling it right away, before he's cold

well thats funny as hell, I made my post from page one before I got to page two, :laughing4:

I talked to the seller via email last night. Car sounds super clean, newly rechromed bumpers, freshly restored grill, separate big block k member, new rear leafs, some other new parts. He paid almost 6000 for the car when he got it. We both are gonna think for awhile and see if we can meet up on a price. I am not willing to spend near what he is asking, and he is asking for what he has into it. Not sure we can find a happy medium.

It's tough enough to recoup your investment in a car...... even tougher to recoup your investment when the car is incomplete.

It is a tempting project though.

I would love to take it on. He said the car is super clean and from Nevada. Just get this feeling he is not really serious about selling.

He obviously hasn't learned the rules of the hobby yet.

Ha Ha, true! I think he stills wants to finish it deep down. He did a 66 Coronet that turned out very nice. So he knows what lies ahead in costs to finish it.

I'd say it's at least worth 5k, easy to make a max wedge clone? One of my favorite mopars.

I'm not sure a "Max wedge clone" would be a great idea for this car. By the time you locate and buy all the parts needed to do a correct "clone", plus the restoration costs, you could go out and buy a real Max wedge car.

Plus, you can't honestly represent it as a "Max wedge"...... And it would get old saying "NO" whenever someone asks...... Is that a real Max Wedge....!

The original type 383 in that car would be smooth, powerful and allow drivability to go anywhere you want. Just the MHO as a guy who likes to drive my cars.

I actually know this guy really well. I would love to take on this project.....just too bad he has his head in the clouds with his price. (In my opinion he does anyways). This car is super solid. He did a '66 coronet that turned out stunning. I think I know why he is giving up on this car and it has nothing to do with the car.....more to do with a woman. What would you think a more reasonable price would be? The car is solid.
So contact the woman and tell her how unreasonable he's being about selling the car...low blow but might get him down on the price...
