Anyone else notice the VIN tag? Why is there an 84 stamped in front of the original numbers? Is that common? I've had some late 50's early 60's Mopars and don't remember seeing that before. Rivets/Screws are also missing.

Not positive about 64, but there are no rivets or screws on 65s to hold on the tag.

84 is correct as a beginning part of the VIN for a letter car 300. 82 would be the code for a non-letter 300 in those years.
 
The A Pillar (door) tags normally do not have rivets or screws. I have never seen one with them originally.
