NYer Salon was a rare 4dr. model version, not this one. Best thing are the black plates.

It just meant that the plate stayed with the car as it went through fifteen owners.

Nice novelty though

I'm a sucker for such novelties. But it mostly grew out of the German registration laws where these old plates get lost about 25 years ago when ownership or registration district changes. I went through silly costs to keep them on two cars I have.They have different lettering, framing and are non reflective. Icing on the cake for all original looks.

YOM plates make it easier and more common in the US.
