1965 Chrysler Newport Fender Tag

Investigation is showing the car is a convertible but its top color is not shown on the fender tag. Perhaps some unique top color to go with the gold body? Tan tops are not unheard of, but do have a code.

The 99 code is the standard engine in any car line/model. Any optional engine will have a different code.
It is my understanding that "99" under AB indicates the standard engine with Cleaner Air/Emissions Control/PCV. Further that some states required the PCV & etc. A car with the standard engine and shipped to a state not requiring emission controls would have the two-digit engine code-standard or optional. Among the many things I don't know is whether optional engines were even allowed in emission control states.
