Hi! On My 65 fury with power brake and drum brake on all wheel , the front brake don't come back, I have changed the wheel cylinder, and the spring, but still the shoe won't come back all the way, this mean that as soon as I touch the brake the front wheel will locked. I am wondering if the master cylinder could cause this the problem?

Brake hose is probably the culprit. typical hose failure has the inside failing and it starts to act like a one way valve... That is it lets the higher pressure activate the brakes, but the springs aren't enough to let the cylinders retract.

Here's a video illustrating the problem. Yea, this is a disc brake caliper, but it's the same principal.

hoses are not that old , a few years, but i'll check that.

I changed the the hoses few weeks ago so far,so good but I keep an eye on it, it sem like the pedal is slowly comming up. I hope the problem won't come back

If the master cylinder is not returning enough to clear the relief port, pressure will not release. Could be a weak spring in the MC or problem in the booster. Also, what if a residual pressure valve in the MC is failing? Have you switched to a dual MC? You should- for safety sake! AMHIK!! Lindsay

Yes a long time ago I siwtched for dual MC and power brake. Now just hoping that after changing the rubber hoses it doesn't do it again. So far the pedal raised from when I changed the hoses, I hope it stay that way, I have drove the car 300 miles since I changed hoses, and this week I will drive about the same. If it comme to the point it was before I will change MC and booster.

after bleeding the front brakes they where back to normal, but last week the brake where stuck again, I just loosen the line from master to front wheel and the brake came back to normal, so I ordererd new master and booster, petty shure that aone of those is deffective, I will update as soon as the change will be done .

So I changed the booster and master with LEEDS kit for 1965 fury manual drum brake front and rear to power brake, It solved all my problem, the car hasn't run like this for a long time. Did not change the rubber hoses. The problem must have been the master or booster since I changed both. The kit fitted perfectly, better than what I had previosly installed ( 1967 booster and master).
