Does the 1965 Monaco use a tach drive in the distributer for the tachometer? I no longer have the same engine. Its a 67 383 2bbl out of a Newport. The tach is not working. I can only see 1 black wire coming out of it. Any thoughts? Do I need to find the correct distributer? Thanks Guys

No, it uses an ignition-based system. Originally it was sent to a processor that was a flat brass-coloured can that sat under the console lid. Now there are reproductions that are digital.

Not a tach drive system.

That's what we're here for!

There are even tach retrofits if your original tach isn't working - uses the same faceplate, and uses all modern processing gear - just hook up to the coil and some 12V power and you're good to go, and no one knows the difference.

I love my console tach, and the 65s were nice looking too, although the positioning of both is sort-of useless! (note my Kilo speedo)

Yeah but your looks much better with that4 speed shifter :) Thanks for telling me about the retrofits. I may need one.
