1965 New Yorker stuck glove box door

While depressing downward on the button try to pry with fingertips and/or grabbing a lip of the glovebox with other hand. You could try to open like first described and tap down with your fist with other hand near the lock then on the black painted area downward. My '59 Imperial has the same problem occasionally.

Here’s what you’re working with.
This cheep wire will ALWAYS give first.
I think Chrysler did this on purpose.
That little nub is your friend or enemy depending on the situation.
That’s all that is keeps it shut. Pry away and the worst you’ll do is maybe break that latch wire. In 30 years I’ve never cracked a steel dash frame.
Pry it open and with a long screw driver try to push in that nub or work it under the wire. Good luck & don’t hurt the glove box door.

So there was no wire holding that critter shut ??? That looks totally different and I’ve pried open e bodies, a bodies, b bodies and C’s and they’ve always had that wire gizmo.
