I have decided to part ways with my beloved Rosie. It's been a journey restoring her over the last 7 years and it seems I have less and less time to enjoy it now that it's nearing completion. A fresh date code '65 383 H.P. block with a fresh 727 Torqueflite. Motor and transmission have no more than 500 miles total. Bored .40 over with Kieth Black pistons and we have a true 9.5:1 compression. Runs great on 93 octane. Cloyes chain, Clevite bearings and ARP bolts. Heads are fresh 346 castings with stainless steel valves, 3 angle valve job, ports had a basic clean up with port matching to the intake. Positive seals etc. again all new. Edelbrock dp4b manifold with 750 Quick Fuel carb. Comp Cams .491/.488 @ 230/236 cam really works great with this build. Cam was degreed also. Motor RPMs beautifully through 6k and really pulls! I had a very reputable builder assemble the motor and he does alot of extra prepping to the block. Runs hot 50lbs oil pressure and 180 degrees. Has never over heated. 4 core aluminum radiator. The motor is making an honest 400 h.p.. Hedman headers with new 2 1/2 exhaust. Torqueflite was built to match the motor by the same builder. Hurst shifter, Hughes 2500 stall, Trans-go 2 shift kit, Hemi style clutches and a A&A 6k governor. Shifts are firm at full throttle. 8 3/4 "742" 3:55 sure grip. I have every receipt for parts and labor. Paint and body was done 5 years ago with PPG in its original Spanish Red Poly. It's a pretty close match to original. We didn't do the jambs or under hood. Stripped to bare metal with patch panels welded were needed. I have pictures of the paint and body work being done that show what's under the paint. Honestly there are some remaining issues that I wanted to fix with the existing body work as time progressed. It's by no means a top shelf paint job. There are minor chips and scratches from driving it and it really needs a good buff and wax. Front disc brakes that are the 1973 power assist factory set up and they work great. New brake lines front to back. New shocks front/rear. New tires. Interior is a work in progress that I am currently working on as time permits. Needs a head liner and front seats reupholstered. New carpet with Kil-Mat sound deadener. The frame rails and stub frame are beautiful. I cleaned the bottom of the car up, painted with Rustoleum and sprayed it with oil. Two patches in the floor under driver toe board and passenger rear foot board. Trunk is solid with a few pinholes at the seams. I left it for now so there's no big mystery.
Here's the scoop. This is not a correct true factory restoration. Not that I need to explain that to you guys. I wanted to do that "Super Stock" look to a C body. Just an old school hotrod. It's a great entry point for some one who wants to tinker with finishing up while driving it with fresh mechanicals. I have more money invested at this point than I'm asking for it but that's how this hobby goes lol. The car runs good and I sure hope it finds a home here. Thank you.
