1966 Chrysler 300 questions

The '68s are way up there on my list and have been since before I knew what a C-body was. The previous generation I have been growing to appreciate more recently and I really want one, a coupe...

My first question is: Can anyone tell me if the tail light assembly is one piece or two? And does anyone know where I can get a replacement for this passenger rear? Thank you in advance.

First great find if you don't know already the color is called saddle bronze. I can answer many restoration question PM or post them.

Been there, it is actually 2 pieces you don't want to know the price if you can even find one. To repair the lens you need to take the bumper off to get to the screws. If I remember correctly the cheapest I have seen the rear lens is $650 per side. The part of the lens that is broken is the section that is always broken. The second piece is the flat portion towards the center of the car. I did a repair on the lens that I am very happy with.

[h=2]Zymurgy ! thank you, that is a wealth of great advice. Of course the reality behind it is sobering. The list is growing, so i'm attempting to prioritize. Thank you for the accolades on the car itself. It was pretty well maintained by the previous owner, and luckily he is still involved to help with any questions or help along the way as well. I have always been an A-body guy. but i'm totally sold on this car. I haven't been this excited for a restoration in a long time. The statement still stands, there are still great cars tucked away. It's all about asking the right questions to the right person. Thanks again![/h]

Feeling the love!!

I can't believe nobody is re-popping taillights and bezels for 66 300s. I don't know of a single resto where a 66 300 owner didn't need to repair either a tail light or a bezel.

Welcome aboard from another 66 300 owner. It looks like all the ones left are owned by guys on this page.

Welcome fellow sixty sixer! Please do yourself a favor and get your hands on the FSM and Parts catalogs. They have saved a lot of trial and error for me so far. That and the huge amount of experience and knowledge here on this forum is the best tool you can have.

Hello

First question I have is, I have a dented passenger fender. It's repairable, but I also purchased a same color donor 66 parts car. (That car was dismantled prior to me)

Will the front fenders of a 66 4-door 300 fit a same year coupe?
Size, fit, AND steel thickness? (Nothing worse than the look of different thickness panels)
Really? Seriously? You must be new and really green to ask a question like this. I'll answer a question with a question. This is sooooo stupid that I can't even ask it, WTF over! Dude, just fix your **** and not worry about it. What do you think body shops do or did?
Give this guy a stupid hat!

I think you deserve a "stupid hat". This thread and that post are from 2013.

@Stubbs300
Haha yea, calm your mammaries killer. Not only did I:
A. Write that post over 2 years ago.
BUT B. Even then I was asking a valid question referring to metal thickness, as there can be variance between the 2 and 4 doors.

...not that this matters, because based on your random tantrum post blast, you are one of the those sad little boys that lives at home with his parents. Somewhere in the woods, probably a little older than school age but still picked on by the locals. Can't hold down a job, but the internet is provided at home, so the frustrations of life can be redistributed across many a social board by means of rants and taunts not much different than those you must personally succumb to each day. So good luck with that.

How's that for a stupid hat?

now go sit down son, this isn't a place to start throwing rocks.

OH, And does anyone have a vinyl top guy they like in the northeast?
