Agreed. 12K for an assembled car and only if everything is solid and works properly.
I've come to the conclusion that 95% of buyers don't give a crap about cars being correct. They are too stupid to know what correct is and they don't have any desire for a correct car because they have zero passion about the specific vehicle they own and are only concerned that they "get thumbs up everywhere they go" and get can get hardons when they can install another chrome Chinese POS from Summit. It's a great hobby but for the people allowed to be in it. I'm going to throw a set of Lake Pipes on the NYB and let everything else go to ****.

Lake Pipes on your car would look great!

I'm not with you on this one Stanley. My car is not "correct," and I like it that way. Personally, I find "factory stock" cars quite boring.

What I don't like about this particular car are all of the incorrect additions with no acknowledgement of such by the seller. So, either he is in your category of being too stupid to know, or he is in your other category of not caring. That's what bothers me about this car, not that it has been modified. If this car were stock none of us would wonder about the asking price.

A friend showed me a listing of a '70 "Hemi Cuda" the other day for $70,000. I instantly wondered why so low? Then I saw the VIN - it had a "G" in the fifth place. Yep, another clone. Curious Stan, do clones bother you as much as this type of car does?

Scotty, clones don't bother me.. What bothers me are the guys who want real car prices for their look-alikes.
Most clones are built by guys who are more interested in impressing people than they are about creating a recreation of a car they are passionate about.
The passionate guys will dive into a rusty hulk and sink their life savings into the real thing.
I also have no problems with guys who are passionate about their cars and know what is appropriate or not appropriate to modify their cars with. Your wheels are an excellent example of proper personal changes.
I kinda, sorta, maybe, built a clone myself. I always wanted a Fury I 2dr sedan equipped with zero optiins except the optional 440 and 4 speed. Never saw one before or since. Don't even know if any were actually built. But it absolutely was available that way. And I built one. And I ALWAYS told everyone it was a built car, NOT original.

And if someone pisses me off enough someday, I'll throw those Lake Pipes on and turn in my FCBO membership card.

Could live with that as well. Period correct is the best way to go in These cases.

We are talking opinions here. While I agree with Stanley's response, I disagree with yours. Period correct may be the best way in your opinion, but not in mine. Personal taste is an interesting thing.

That's why I get a kick out of people who will write a post saying, "What do you think I should do?" My answer is always the same, "It's your car, do with it what you want." I hate Poverty Caps (dog dishes) on cars, especially on C Bodies. Yet, they're incredibly popular. Does that make me wrong? No; an opinion can never be wrong. It can be disagreed with, but never wrong.

Sorry, gotta disagree there. I ain't seen a Newport yet that I think is worth 22k. I've seen a few VERY nice ones on ebay, beautiful cars that I would be 100% proud to own, and each one of them would've needed to have $10k cash in the glovebox to be worth $22k (to me).

Just make sure it can purr like a kitten first, 'til the roar.
