1966 New Yorker Town Sedan

Variable speed wipers have four wires at the motor, single speed has only three wires there.

According to a 2012 article on hemmings motor news "Chrysler-Electric-Wiper-Motors" cars like yours had variable 3 speed wiper Motors after 1965.

Perhaps your unit requires servicing or replacement?

Hope this helps.

It also helps to obtain the parts and service manuals together with any advertising and brochures for that year. Often, you can buy the dealer data folders and color and upholstery folders which add to the information and enjoyment of the car.

Be aware that not everything in a brochure can be taken to be totally correct as they were printed prior to production and design and color changes may have occured.

I confess I don't think I have ever seen a 6 window sedan before... and I have been a Mopar nut since the early 60s. Somehow I must have missed these so I guess the comment about them hiding in plain sight is absolutely true. Very classy and elegant, I think. Congratulations on a great score!

The 6-Window Town Sedans were only built in the '65 and '66 model years. Newport and New Yorker models, only. 300 was only hardtops. Seems like the '66 Newport TS production was about 22K?

In the Newport line, the Town Sedan had an upgraded cloth interior and a few other nicer cosmetics. Basically replaced by the '67+ Newport Custom. My '66 is "CL42", but ny '67 Newport 2drht is "CE".

Thanks. Here are some more pics of the way the car sits lowered. Rides good. Pretend white walls look good enough to keep. :) Still plenty of work left, but I'll get there one day.
