Welcome I like the car except for red, but the third pedal makes up for the colors shortcomings. Good luck wish I had the cash.

It has incorrect front seat covers over the original seat vinyl. Aftermarket seat covers can be easily removed, but the driver's side seat is worn, so I haven't removed the aftermarket covers.

I don't understand the term "dash pad... jacked up"? I have owned this car for many years and the dash pad is original and I don't think it's ever been taken off.

Welcome to the site, Kenny.

I did notice the original seat covers were hidden under the aftermarket covers and the driver's seat was worn through. When I said the dash pad was jacked up, I was referring to the distortion and crack around the speaker cover. As you mentioned, this car is a driver (condition wise) but your are asking #1/#2+ money for it. For the money, I would expect a nice interior with no rips, tears or cracks and a solid body with zero rust and/or rot. I think it is a very cool car but think you are unrealistic as to the actual value. Rare doesn't always equate to value.

Very cool and rare car, Kenny. And thanks for joining in the discussion. I'm also a fan of the instrument cluster. A couple "from the factory" downsides I see to the car are the 2bbl and the column shift. If it were a 4bbl-4spd, the asking price would be easier to justify. Good luck with the sale. Someone will get a real conversation piece.

Please feel free to ask me any questions. I have owned this car for many years and would not consider selling it except for a financial situation that I am trying to rectify. I have been involved with C Bodies (And A and B Bodies) since the mid '60s when I worked at Buckhead Chrysler in Atlanta. This is a very rare car, a solid driver, complete and mostly original. You will never find another one like it (that's why it's 1 of 1)! Thanks for including it on your forum.

Welcome MoparKenny! Looking forward to hearing about this car and you other cars

Kenny! It's Craig from E Nashville with the blue "68 Fury III. Welcome. Do you still have that green wagon for sale?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I think this car, given it's age and condition
is worth every penny. It may not be what some people want but what I see is a lot
of potential. You can buy what needs to be freshened up any day of the week but
because of a few "rough edges" it's value is up for debate by a select few who
obviously don't wish to purchase it. I say shame on you for your harsh judgement
and I challenge you to put your vehicle up for sale and see just how much criticism
you attract for the price you ask. Cut the guy a break because he just might get the
price and then who's the fools. No further discussion needed!

It doesn't matter who's car gets posted up for sale, member or not we are going to shoot from the hip and hope to be proven wrong every time!

There are several members in this community when included as a whole, are usually dead on because they have followed the market for years on actual selling prices. Not pulling a figure out of the air based on last week's eBay listings and what a 383 Challenger got at the last Mecum scam, er... auction.

I think it is a very cool car but the perceived value is skewed. Take a look at the link below:

http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1966/Chrysler/Newport/2-Door-Hardtop/Values

The High Retail Value of a '66 Newport is $7,375.00. High Retail is defined as: A vehicle in excellent over all condition. It could be completely restored or an extremely well-maintained original vehicle showing very minimal wear. The exterior paint, trim and mechanics are not in need of reconditioning. The interior would be in excellent condition.

Based on Kenn'y car being a 3 on the tree and very rare, I would put a 25% premium on top of that value. Total High Retail Value would be $9,218.00 if it met the definition.

Based on the pictures and description, Kenny's car would be considered Low Retail Value defined as: A vehicle in mechanically functioning condition, needing only minor reconditioning. The exterior paint, trim and interior would show normal wear, needing only minor reconditioning. It may also be a deteriorated restoration or a very poor amateur restoration. Most usable "as-is". This value does not represent a "parts car". Based on this description, the actual value of Kenny's car is $3,156.00 ($2,625 x 25% premium). The condition is the condition. There's no disputing that. The car is also rare and cool, but does a 3 on the tree, 2V constitute "desirable" thus demanding a very, very high premium of 500%? I personally don't think so but others may.

My car, being as you mentioned it, has been well documented here, on other C Body sites and has been featured in two national magazine articles.

Despite the time, money, high level of restoration and popularity, I am VERY realistic as to the value of my car. Although others on this site disagree with me (some think it's worth more), I think the value is in line with the High Retail Value as listed here:

http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1965/Chrysler/300/2-Door-Convertible/Values

As evidenced by the pics in the links above, I am confident to say my car falls in the High Retail Value range. Based on feedback I've gotten on this forum, I think the only criticism I would get if I were to put my car up for sale is the asking price is too low.

Welcome to the site,,, :welcome:

I am not a big fan of red cars overall myself personally however this one pops out right at you and the red red combination works well.

Welcome to the site, the car may be rare but 1 of 1? not sure about that. Just my .02

:sSig_greetingsthor: ........... :welcome:
Love your car, and the red works well for me. I have a friend who has a 64 Newport with factory 3 spd floor shifter. Not a lot of them around either.

I do agree with the concensis here ..... rare and valuable are two different things.
Rare AND valuable is a vehicle that was very desirable, but too expensive or too impractical when new. such as a hemi car.
A 3spd manual shift Cbody of that era was not really that desirable and looked upon as a cheapo unit. Not many built because they were not popular.
40+ years later it's cool and unusual.

I also don't put much stock in NADA collector car values. They should stick to used cars.

Well put.

Let's use this site for valuation, which you've endorsed in other threads. The pricing is very similar to Nada except they list an actual #1 car which would be classified as a trailer queen. The main difference is they actually deduct 10% for the 3 speed manual.

I think both sites are wrong, the car is a real rare one, on he other side of the brouchure rack is a Plymouth which is much cheaper if that was what they were looking for. Someone ordered a Chrysler specifically because it was a Chrysler and was okay with the low line/ low option of the car. They bought the top or close to the top car line with low line options a very low number of buyers would do this. I would say it only adds to cars value. Worth 12 probably not but it doesn't hurt to ask, there is always a fool waiting to part with his money.

I would wager this was ordered for dealer stock and doubt it was special ordered.

I don't know too much about those earlier vin tags, do they have the sold car/ sales bank info on them or is there a bs on this car now you have my curiosity up, I started out just liking the third pedal!!!

Why would Ma Mopar ever put together a car like that voluntarily...

Dealer and dealer managers do strange things. This car could have been the "one at this price" car on the lot to get people in to buy. This car has no options other than the AM radio (which may or may not have been an additional cost option) so it would have been the least expensive car on the lot.

Loss leader for the Sunday newspaper ½ page ad. OR.....
my father ordered it.

Wouldn't the Buil Sheet show it?
