Hey yall. I've got a 66 Sport Fury, the slide and pin broke and fell out of my drivers side door. Creating an issue , or a couple really. I have found and puchased replacement part, I have removed the interior door panel, handel, window cranks, all that, but I am a little stuck on how to proceed. My Shop Manual, shows a kinda " exploded view, thta shows the inside workings of the door, yet the Manual, does not, to my finding, show how to dismantle the door itself, to access the inside... anyone do this or deal with this on a 66 Sport Fury?

Thanks for your help or input.

I had to do this a few years back. I found the easiest was to remove the window frame. There are two or three bolts that are accessible through the interior door panels. I am sorry I can not explain better than that, but once you remove those bolts, I was able to pivot the entire assembly up and slide the glass with the new nylon pivots into the rail. I referenced the mechanics manual for some guidance.

I did it myself, but it was a struggle that would have gone faster with another pair of hands. The new nylon pivots will probably be tight at first.

I hope this helps.

I second that. I have a 66' vert and ended up removing the window frame, the piece with the triangular vent/wing window, to get the new sliders in. You don't have to pull it all the way out, just enough so the window guides slide in the slot. Also, be sure not to mess up the remote side mirror linkage, if your car has that. And the new guides will be tight!

Appreciate the input.I have the interior door panel exposed, I have the owners manual, but it's just kinda confusing to me
(this is my first real classic that I have done any wrenching on) as the manual shows the interior of the door, as if that inside panel has been removed. I am confident I can do this. I just hesitate to just start loosing bolts when I dont fully understand what they are connected to. But I'll be moving forward.

Appreciate the input. What is a Vert? Yeah the guides are both thicker than original ( mine broke, leaving one side behind for comparison) and the pin is longer, so I will be having to sand down the slides, and cut of about 1/8th inch of the pin.. should i glue them together? the Pin and the slides?

Sorry for being vague. I haven't done that job on a classic MOPAR and the GM ones I have done were as simple as attaching it to the glass and snapping it in. I'm glad other guys chimed in to help.
No worries bud. I am doing my first real restoration ever, and I got the car of my dreams, that has allowed me MANY opportunities to learn, whether I wanted to or not. I tried the obvious , easy way, of just putting the slide on, and using a plastic pry bar, forcing it into the track, but no go... not by a long shot.

Sorry Vert is short for Plymouth Fury III Convertible. I wouldn't advise gluing the guides to the pin. There should be a little wiggle room for the guides to pivot on the pin as the window is rolled up and down the track.

So, I see you have what looks like a cream colored 66 Sport Fury. Many years back I had one that I sold to a guy in Bayonne, NJ. He didn't keep it long and although we are on opposite coasts I'm wondering if it could be my old 66 SF. Mine was in a collision when it was a few years old and had much bodywork (plastic) in the left 1/4 panel. I really liked that car and sold it to by a car I never got. I found out the guy who bought it from me sold it and it went west....
