I met a guy to day at a car show, he said he had a 1966 Plymouth VIP that he bought new, (actually said he drove it off the factory floor) he is the one and only owner. has 86,000 original miles on it still has the seat covers on it. Has the 383 motor. I have not seen this car but he has invited me over to see it. I am curious if some one here might know what a fair price would be for this car. If he will let me I'll take a picture and post it here.

Sure, post some pics up. Make sure you look over the car pretty well. Also ask if the engine is original,..you never know!

I went and looked at the VIP, it needs lots of body work rear Qtr panels will need to be replaced along with the inner fender pieces all are rusted thru, Needs total paint job, Vinyl top is almost gone. Dent in rear bumper, dent in front grill. The interior is like new though which is a plus, does have the original 383, with 86,000 miles. Body trim is in great shape. I did not look in the trunk as he had stuff sitting on it.

Hit him with a low offer and see where he stands? It all depends on if you like the car or not and how bad those quarters really are.I'd check out the trunk first before you lay out any serious money because that may need replacing too.

Buy yourself a rust free car. You can thank me later.

I agree, but it all depends on where your located and what you can afford. Mine was very solid and came from California.Sometimes it pays to spend the extra money and buy something from out west, even though the shipping may cost you more money, you'll have less in sheetmetal work which can cost quite a bit. You've got to outweigh the costs of one over the other.

For retrospect, my 65 Sport Fury has the right 383, the right 4 speed, is a two door, and seems to be just as rusty as your 66. I paid $5k because that is what I was willing to pay. . Doors, thransmission, and condition are everything to just about every car you will look at.

Now, a customer of mine just bought a rust free, 383 powered 4 door Fury that runs and had cold air for $2300 three months ago.
