I’m considering selling my ‘67 Newport and to be right upfront the reason is because I think it has a loose timing chain. I’ve been chasing symptoms and fixing this and that and it’ll go away and come back. Bogs down on acceleration and feels like there may be a little surge at highway speeds.
But about the car: it’s 3 owners 150,000 miles. The original owner dailied it until 1997 and I have all service records going back to 1967 it was very well maintained. The car has one rust spot about the size of a quarter with old filler in it right above the passenger wheel well skirt. Otherwise it’s very rust free, it had a hole in the passenger floor so I replaced the floor pan in that area. To look under it, in the trunk drops, at the seams, you’d think you were on a used car lot in ‘72. Light wear, but overall in great shape. Original paint polished up and waxed for a good luster. Right now it has the original seat in the back and a power bench up front. Comes with the original front (worn) and a spare Imperial back seat. It has a new distributor, a rebuilt carb, upgrade to power (drum) brakes. Am radio works great, rear defrost option too. Any other questions I’m happy to answer. Looking to get $5,000 as is. I’d say 6 if I fix the timing chain but once I fix that I’ll probably just want to keep it again haha. (when it’s working right) It’s smooth, quiet, and stately. I always feel great when I arrive somewhere in it. Car is in Farmingdale NY on Long Island 3158130520
