Rock Auto shows a couple of different forward bushings (RB60 and RB91) and seems to indicate that the non-police version has 2" OD and the police version is 1.5". I'm guessing that for me, the 2" version would be the correct one.

Was there really a need to make the police version smaller? Would the slight reduction in rubber give a beneficial result in handling / durability?

The photos on rock seems to show the police version being longer, I wonder if that's just an optical illusion.

The "standard" leaf spring front eye bushing for all 1967 Monaco, Polara, Fury and Chrysler cars, except the following listed applications, is Chrysler # 1948869. The 2" outside diameter Dayton Products RB60 is the replacement bushing for #1948869.

The leaf spring front eye bushing for all 1967 Monaco, Polara, and Fury Police or 440 equipped applications is Chrysler # 2403245. The 1.5" outside diameter Dayton Products RB91 is the replacement bushing for # 2403245.

The smaller diameter rubber has less deflection providing better vehicle handling and control. Although not specified, it's possible that a higher durometer rubber was used by Chrysler in #2403245.

Is there a way to tell which bushing you need without having to take the leaf off the vehicle?

I suppose the bushing is visible enough to put a ruler on it, but the car is in storage right now. I just went ahead and bought a pair of the 2-inch bushings from rock auto, they were about $20 each. The leafs were taken off and re-arched with an extra leaf added back in '87, that work was done by a service garage.

I've not yet ever done anything with the leafs / bushings or shackles or rear axle myself other than change the diff fluid and brake stuff, it's the last mechanical frontier for me with this car.
