I was wondering if anyone knows the part numbers for the wheel opening chrome trim pieces for a 1967 sport fury and if a 1968 uses the same parts. found some for a 1968 but not sure if they are the same as a 67. Thanks

I have an NOS right rear wheel opening molding for my 67 Sport Fury that I bought years ago. In black marker there is the part # 2783738 written on it. Hope this helps, John.

If you end up not needing the 68 pieces could you PM me? I need rear wheel well chrome for a 68.

Thanks
Chris

'67 Sport Fury Fastop wheel opening mouldings:
Rt.ft.: 2807656
Lt.ft.: 2807657
Rt.rr.: 2807922
Lt.rr.: 2807923
'68 are different according to the parts books, and '68 has two different rear mouldings depending on if the car has fender skirts or not.
The 2783738 number may be a superceded number, another source(not Chrysler) that I checked listed that number as a '67 Fury III and Sport Fury rt.rr. whl. opening moulding.
Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for posting this info. 65 500, I don't mean to hijack Adebrea's thread, but can you post the part numbers for the '68 rear wheel well chrome trim? Here is my situation: my car came with fender skirts but I do not use them (I like the look of skirts on Imperials, etc but not on my Fury; I'm going for a more aggressive look). I would rather put non-fender-skirt chrome around the opening instead of the skirt, like the photo below of windsor56's amazing '68. So what part numbers should I look for?

Chris, Joe's 68 Fury "Red" car is a non fender skirt car. It runs a full wheel well moldings in Rear. The fender skirt cars can't fit that molding. I posted pics of my parts car fender trim on Non skirt car. And pics of my Blue 68 that's a fender skirt car. Can you see the difference in wheel well opening size?

The skirt-less cars have a smaller wheel well opening. The skirt cars have a larger opening. The car on top The tan one is a 68 fury parts car I had a few years back.

Jason, is that your parts car on top? Maybe I'm an idiot but the opening looks the same, like the top trim would fit on your blue fast top wheel opening. Am I missing something?

Oops, posted at the same time as you posted that clarification. I'll grant Joe's looks different from that angle but I thought that was because of the body lines tucking in as you get toward the ground. I'll have to photoshop them together to convince myself...

I had a parts customer that wanted no skirts on his 68 fury. He had his body guy rework the rear wheel wells to fit the skirt-less trim.

Dammit, I can't let it go... it just doesn't look that different to me, maybe a half-inch taller on the skirt car w/o skirts. See below:

But if in your experience it was different enough to require bodywork, that trumps any of my photoshop d!cking around, and I will cry uncle and give up.

I don't have any full wheel well skirt-less trim to fit when you come out. I do have some half trim on a skirt-less 67 that I could put up next to my 68 to show the difference. Just trying to help you keep from buying parts that won't work.

Thanks, I do appreciate it! Just trying to understand the exact difference. And I just wish it would work. But as my dad says, "why don't you try wishing in one hand and sh!tting in the other and see which one fills up first..."

As far as the '68 Fury skirt cars vs non skirt cars goes the parts book does not list a separate 1/4 panel for skirt cars, unless for example all Fastop cars had skirts, and no 2-dr.hts. had skirts, that I don't know. The parts book does not show any 2-dr. with skirts except for the Fastop and the conv. So that would make me think that as long as it's the same body style(ex. conv.) that you could use a non-skirt w/o moulding on an original skirt car that you took the skirts off of.
On your '68 rear w/o moulding part numbers what body style and trim (ex. VIP Fastop) is your car ? There are a lot of different part numbers depending on the body style and trim level. I know I said that there were 2 different numbers in my last post, but I think there are actually more, due to trim level differences. I'm only talking about 2-dr. cars here, I didn't check but I'm almost sure 4-drs. are different. Also Chrysler had a real bad habit of superseding (I spelled that differently before, and I still am not sure which is correct, but right now I don't feel like checking. ) part numbers sometimes 4 or 5 times, and looking up mouldings in the parts book is hard enough.

If that's the case and skirt cars with skirts removed can fit the skirt-less trim for a non skirt car. I will eat my straw hat!!

My '68 is the black one in the comparison above and is a 2-dr Fury III Fast Top (PX23).

Well guys here's an update. I pulled the partial wheel well trim from Non fender skirt 67 Vip parts car. I fitted it to my 68 fury fender skirt car. The first time I did it I guess it wasn't quite lined up right, cause it was off. I fitted it again and sure enough its the same size. So I guess I will be eating my Straw hat for supper!! LOL

The good news is anybody with a fender skirt car can fit the non skirt chrome rear wheel well trim. All that's needed is to pull the skirt mounting studs.

To get back to the orig posters question as to whether the 67 and 68 fury's share the same rear wheel well moldings. Yes they do. I have sold 2 sets of moldings to 67 and 68 fury owners with no problems.

Let me see if I understand this correctly.
The wheel opening is different between the two door cars and the the four door cars and not because it had skirts or not.

Jason, thanks so much for running field tests on this! Now someone please sell me some 67-68 rear wheel well chrome for a reasonable price! :)
