1968 300 4-SPD

.........This one.

He just bought a 69 or 79 Newport convertible 383 4 speed car. HE SAID it was all original. He sent me pics of it.

In '67 and '68 there were 3 radiators that were specific for a manual only C body and they were all 22" and only one was for a big block. There was 1 22" rad for 383/440 that could be used for both auto and manual in '68 which obviously was for non ac car. All of the 26" units are listed for auto only in '68.

About 25 years ago I saw a 1965 300 in a repair shop in Hackettstown NJ with a 360 Hp 413, 4 speed, p/s, p/b, radio delete. Burgundy with black interior and good condition. What ever happened to that car I wish I knew.

Never say never with Mopars but no 4-speed Chryslers in 1968. 1967, yes. They stopped taking orders of 4-speed Chryslers on Feb 22nd 1967.

Ok a quick google search pulled up 2 1970 Chrysler Newports with 3 speed manual trans. Both column shifted. One is a convertible

And this car is interesting because it's a 69 Newport convertible with a 3 speed manual. Sold new in Virginia. Says it was ordered. Black with a white top. Tan interior. Now the guy that called me had a black car with white interior, convertible white top & a floor shifted 4 speed unrestored.

Take care of the transmission, the A-745 used with the 383 2bbl had different 1st, 2nd & reverse ratios than the version used in the 318 and HD 225 vehicles. Unique parts would be hard to find at best.

i kinda find it hard to believe they stopped making 4 speed cars,
as people were using them to pull boats and campers.
one would think all you would have had to do is sit down w a salesman.

ma mopar made some weird cars all the way.
i briefly owned a 73 duster with a 360 4bbl w 3 speed manual <
factory...that was a weird combo.

Very cool car! Good friend of my brother in high school, his dad had connections through a Mopar dealer and ordered a 76(?) Volare wagon, 360/4bbl, A833OD, 3.21 Suregrip, full load, power everything and A/C. I was fairly new to my Mopar obsession but I do remember looking at the fender tag and seeing the E58 engine code.

We would eat clutches like crazy in that car....probably every two weeks or so someone would be doing a clutch. :D I asked them to call me when the car was no longer useful to them, but they never did. Last I heard it was under tarps out in low rent area of a city on the coast.....sad end to a cool car.

to be brutally honest, that duster was a waste.
with the 4bbl and the short runs meh.
it was not right, not geared right at all for the 3 speed.
i doubt anyone dealer or factory ever even drove that car.

in fact i gave that car to my stepmom, and she used to drive it to the store in Any gear she could find.
one time i saw her coming down the road so i pulled over and she went past me at like 30mph in first gear, just aroaring.
some fond memories there.
she eventually traded it in on a cutlass supreme.

back at the topic tho,
i scoped the comments on that vid mr monaco posted.
owner says car was " built " when he bought it,And,
its for sale now as well.
entirely possible it may be a created car, however it looks stunning.
after looking Down at the related topics on this forum lol.
whats this?
For Sale - 1968 fury 4-spd $28.000.-

440 4-speed wasn't available with AC so I'm going to say the 4-speed was added.

There was someone here that did a 4 spd conversion on one. It was the later overdrive version and not the 833 that would have been the norm if they had built one.

I feel like I'm about to play putt putt with that carpet.

Strange setup. Has both the factory A/C setup and an added on knee knocker setup.
