The more I think about this, the more I'm pretty sure that in 1968 the 440 hp was turquoise and the dual snorkel air cleaner was orange.

Found these in some of my reference books.

If I understand the text right, the last 2 pictures make contradictory statements?!

Matt, can you please give the names or ISBN of the books? I love reference book!

The second two pics (with the somewhat contradictory statements) were from the same engines book, straight from Ma Mopar and the first is from a B-bodies resto guide. I'll post up some pics later.

Actually turquoise was the engine color. Unless it's Canadian (I think) and then the engine could be orange? Blue didn't happen till 1970 and turquoise also continued till maybe 1971, making things confusing.
The valve cover does look blue in the ad picture. Maybe someone had them off at one time and just sprayed some blue, that's easy to find on the parts store shelf, and just freshened the look at some time.

Here they are Julian.

That's a good one too, Julian, I have the small block version. The Mopar Engines book actually has a Mopar part number and has an absolute ton of good info in it. I think Stan found one on Ebay recently. The resto guide by Herd I happen to like very much although it has its share of inaccuracies. He has a good E-body book too.

I'm glad you note the inaccuracies in Herd's book.

I was disappointed when I bought it.

Yeah, it certainly can't be your only B-body resto guide but when used in conjunction with others it's a very useful resource.

That one will pay for itself in short order once you need to use it.
