Cool car. good luck with the sale.

When I took the back seat out....

Did you find a broadcast sheet? Any shots of the fender tag? (....you knew that was coming....)

I drove the car back to my house today and just started cleaning things up... Sorry no data plate or build sheet pics yet.

I love cleaning stuff like white vinyl tops. This one shows off the original pearly-gold nicely.

Better dash photo, peeled off some dymo "fasten seatbelt" stickers

Should come back nicely with a wheel. Note the light-up tiger in the back window.

Dave should forget about a formal and go with this slabbie.

And what appears to be a rain barrel at the neighbors house

My rain barrel. My house/lot has an unusual layout that works very well for owning a bunch of cars. Strategically planted arborvities and privacy fence make me look like Joe-average minivan owner when you pass by. :)

Very cleaver

How many miles? or did I miss that.

OK, I can finally answer that question:

64,122 and have reason to believe that's original as follows (yesterday's progress)

Dropped the tank and found it surprisingly clean, just a little bit of varnish, no rust.

Have a look at that clean sender... And it works :)

Took a few underbody shots while I was under the back end.

I have no idea why my phone decided to turn this shot purple.

Muffler looks original. (Tailpipe has departed)

Not so sure on the muffler being original... I know Midas had the little buttons formed on their mufflers... I am unaware of anybody else that did that, but my awareness means little.

I think you are correct. But I'll say those pipes in front of the muffler have to be OEM, it seems unlikely the muffler shops of the 70s would a clean like that. Speaking of clean, I finally finished scrubbing the vinyl top. Those cheesy aftermarket hubcaps and radial snow tires look a lot better clean...

Mufflers always rotted first... I agree the pipes in front of it are most likely original... been so long since I got to use any of my exhaust tools... It used to be a challenge in the non-muffler shops I worked at to replace only the failed component.

Hose!

So... why hasn't someone here said "I'm going to get it next week"?

I can't do another car right now or I'd be all over this.

If I recall correctly, the exhaust replacement manufacturers (Arvin, Maremount, etc) designed the individiual components so that you could replace only the rotted out part.
Example: the replacement mufflers inlets and outlets were sized as slip joints.
Everything was clamped. No welding.
Air chisel off the bad, bolt on the good.
Things were so simple then.

First to go was the tail pipe (remember the puddles of water when it was cold out?).
Next would be the muffler.
You sometimes replaced the tail pipe twice before the exhaust pipe finally crapped the bed.

i may regret taking on 2 projects at once, but if i can sell the other bike, and the trailer.... well, i've been looking for A) a 60s model C or B body, and B) a 300. Except for my 'Dobas, every single Mopar i've ever owned has been a 4-dr. Why stop now...?

As i recall, you said MI. Not TOO awful far. And before i make a bigger idiot of myself, i'll apologise now... obviously what was told to me all these years about those damned pillows has been wrong. i finally looked in my 1975 Chrysler Bible (unused since i sold the '74 Newport) and the nomenclature distinctly lists them as tappet noise dampeners. You'd think after 9 400's, i'd be able to distinguish tappet noise from my elevated pulse...
