So when are you inviting your Calgary cousins over to eyeball this project in person??

Dobalovr, I'll definitely be open to having a visit once she's a little further down the path. There's a few more items I'd like to complete as far as tuning and adjusting then I'll be pulling the front end apart (body panels included) and engine out.

The brakes still need to be updated, as the parts are painted and awaiting installation. The engine will get a very soft refresh, after I check out the bottom end. Plus various other things to make it work and more attractive.

Live4theking, BLP makes a kit for this exact problem. It's an insert kit that is specific to the size and application. I'm going to order one with a couple of spare inserts (to ensure it won't happen again). I'll post the before/after for review. I hope that the shipping doesn't take long.

Cool, I'll be waiting to see how it turns out.

After buttoning the fuel system up yesterday, setting fuel pressure, and some tuning completed, there is now more work to be done in the engine diagnosis.

The fuel system needed an upgrade, and received a Demon 750 carb. Then the entire fuel system ahead of the carburetor was upgraded to compensate for the small factory lines and weak MP mechanical pump.

The ignition was weak as a points system, and was converted to MP electronic. This was an upgrade but not quite good enough, and was upgraded further to the MSD system with the Taylor 10.4 wires.

At this point the engine idles strong with about 11" at idle. The throttle snap is tight and crisp, even with the stripped accelerator squirter. Though there is a nagging problem at around 3,000 +/- rpm, the engine shakes and doesn't seem to want to rev much higher. Below this point from idle the engine is very strong, and the engine shake is non-existent (aside from normal cam induced shake at idle).

I assume that now I'll need to go through the valvetrain to inspect for weak springs, collapsed lifters, or worn cam lobes. I may just swap in a new set of the correct springs and see if that helps.

The work completed thus far in diagnosis has me somewhat baffled as the vacuum gauge doesn't flutter and doesn't show a weak signal - which is common with valvetrain failure. The exhaust temperature at the headers are all fairly consistent as well between all cylinders. The only thing I have yet to verify is voltage at the coil and MSD power feed at the rpm where the shake/stumble occurs.

I could also try a different rev limiter in the MSD box, in the event the one installed is faulty?

Thanks @300rag - yeah, it's been a long slug and years of parts accumulation. After deliberation I thought it best to finally set a deadline so I get this girl back on the road.

WENT 4 WHEEL DISC ON MY 67 FURY. BEST BRAKES I HAVE EVER HADE ON A C BODY.

@BUBBAZ488 was it a complete kit brake system or a factory C-Body front system with a Ford/alternate type rear?

I'll be taking on the brakes over the Christmas season, and am still undecided on the rears

The BLP kit to repair the accelerator pump squirter has been ordered and I hope will arrive next week. If so, then you all know what I'll be doing next weekend. (Outside of the valvetrain diagnosing!)

If you haven't had a chance to previously see the BLP kit, take a look at the YouTube installation video. I'm pretty excited to see how this works out.

On another note, after a little thought and consideration I've decided to install a slightly higher stall torque converter. I haven't before utilized a TSI converter, though my father has and loves them.

In taking the plunge on this i've opted for 10" 10400 model, as I think this will be a really nice addition to gearing and anticipated valvetrain changes coming over the winter............ anyone have thoughts on Hughes Engines cams? I've been drooling over a couple of them for a few years.

The BLP accelerator squirter kit & the TSI converter are both sitting in the shop.

Unfortunately; I probably won't have a chance to work on the carb until next weekend. The weather has turned here and winter has seemingly arrived, which I hope affords more shop time on the car.

This weekend I need to get the new electrical panel in and new heater wired up in the shop, hence the delays on the fun stuff.

Anyone know if Hughes Engines, Summit, Jeg's, or even 440 Source are planning on a sale for Black Friday?
