Why black under hood?? You a Chevy guy? Looking great
Travis..

My research into has shown that, As my car was a late 1967 production order, it was actually painted like this car below (It is a 67 in the picture, but I uncovered original paint in the door jambs to support that my car, built in Dec. 67, was also painted like this):

But starting with orders in March 1968, Texas cars were painted with the current black and white color scheme, which is how I am restoring it - hence the black engine bay.

You lost me, your car appears to have been originally painted white under the hood?

So you are restoring it to a later paint scheme than originally to the car?

Was your car repainted while in service to the later scheme?

That's correct Alan,

My car was the white body/black front door scheme used in 66/67, due to it being ordered before the new paint scheme. Only a handful of 1968 model year cars came in the earlier scheme, the vast majority being black body, white hood/roof/trunk.

While it's not what my car was originally painted, it is correct for the 1968 model year - and is simply more visually appealing to me.

So I guess to sum to: original paint scheme for my car, no.

Correct for the vast majority of 1968 Furys ordered after my cars batch, yes.

Sorry this is off topic a bit............................

25 years ago I almost bought a 67 Fury III former Texas Patrol car 440- 4-speed. I have a few photos somewhere. It had the correct bumper guards etc,.......I'll see if I can find the photos, I thought you might be interested in it.

That would be great, thanks!

So Back in 1994 there was an ad in Hemmings for a 67 fury, 440-4-speed. The seller stated it was a former Texas State Patrol car. Special ordered by the head of the TSP. It had the radio and siren in the car. I know the hood scoops are not correct, as the seller stated the previous owner installed them. I have no way of knowing if it was a true TSP or not, but the car was a real 440 4-speed, the bumper guards look correct. This is all I have, if I remember correctly it was $5,500 which was a kinda a lot then, but super rare car. PS23L________ where is the car today?????

I seriously doubt a Fast top Sport Fury 440 4spd was ever a TSP car.
I understand you're only repeating what you were told, but it's too much to accept as possible.

Great progress and thanks for the updates and esp pictures.
