1969-74 South African Chrysler 383

Good morning, (in South Africa it's morning). I realise this is an older thread, but I do repairs and maintenance of these South African C bodies, and Tevin (green C body) is a friend.
We really struggle with engine parts, as well as normal everyday items like brake pads etc.
Our C bodies were imported in CKD form and assembled, including paint, in a factory in Elsie's River near Cape Town.
Looking into the RHD engine bay, you can still see the opening in the firewall for the LHD steering column, that was plated over on the inside of the car. The RHD steering box is bolted to the inner frame rail near the firewall, which makes changing the rear plugs on a 383 fun.
Ball joints are the same, but steering joints are a nightmare, and expensive. Unfortunately with our currency exchange rate to the US Dollar, importing parts can be really expensive as well. My white 69 383 is on the first page of this thread (with the alloy wheels, and the one behind it with the black wheels, is the same car that was painted blue and received the hood scoops in a later post.
My car has since been painted grey. Our 69 Models had the Polara spec, but Monaco side trim and tail lights, cornering lamps in front, and the rest kind of parts bin bits.

Thank you for all this information!

Threads have long lives here, and the good ones (like this one) effectively act as repositories of information on specific topics.

Funny enough, Tevin’s car popped up in a Facebook group I happened to stumble across a few days ago. Must’ve restarted the thread.
