A lot of green..for a lot of green.
Rare car indeed. 69 last year for passenger car 427.
Not many luxury boats were ordered with a row yer own transmission.

Wow thats an outstanding car. If everything that is green was black it would be epic. But its still pretty epic. Got thg o hand it to gm for putting the big girls out with a gear box. Im jealous.

This Caprice is in very nice condition but to my eyes the exterior styling is uninspired/boring for a performance themed car. The interior, though, is pretty nice, which is consistent with GM interiors of this era in general.

I just wonder why the woodgrain applique above the glovebox (and to the right of the center a/c ducts) doesn't match the rest of the woodgrain in the interior (or maybe it is a chrome or shiny black strip with interior reflections in it)?

I wonder what that large tank is in the left front of the engine compartment?

I am surprised that the radiator in this particular car isn't a cross flow type rather than the usual looking Chrysler type (top down). I thought the rotary compressors in these early GM models were so much better than the Chrysler RV2 type.

I rented one of these 1970 Caprices in 1970 when I was vacationing in Maryland and the a/c system put out about twice the airflow/capacity as the typical C body system did in those years and of course none of the rumble associated with the RV2 in 1970 Chryslers was present. Very impressive when it was just over 100F out and very high humidity on that trip (when the car was left parked with the windows up, it got pretty hot/miserable inside but within 5 minutes the interior was cool again - with a typical Chrysler it would have never gotten cool and comfortable). Chrysler lost a lot of sales in those years by continuing to use the weak a/c systems and noisy/rumbling compressors until the very late 70s (not to mention the weak engine cooling as well when really hot outside and in traffic especially).

It would be very hard to find another of these in this excellent condition so the price might be reasonable if this car appeals to you.

A car for you @commando1 ?
It has all the right specs that I could possibly ask for. Perfect actually.
EXCEPT....
1. Not a fan of that year's styling.
2. The color. Hate it.
3. Too far away
4. I'm too old now for old cars. I need something with the factory Platinum 10 year extended warranty.
30k is not too overpriced.

Actually the Caprice was marketed as a luxury car with performance available. It competed against the Ford LTD and Plymouth VIP.
The Big Three at the time, you could order whatever you want as long as you have the money.
Monaco 500 with 440 4spd? No problem.
Fury II 4dr with 383 4speed? Sure!
Country Squire wagon with 428 4 gear? Yup. They all exist as they were ordered.
I love oddballs even the Caprice.

Not in 69........

The more I look at it the more I like it. I would like it more with a black interior and as much as Im the last guy in the world to advocate for keeping all things stock, the aftermarket gauges would have to go.

But my question is about the wheelwell opening.
That eliptical shape has always drove me insane.
I cant stand it and dont think it fits the car. I believe it started in 67
I always thought if I was fixing up one of these cars I would splice in the opening from a 70 chevelle or a 65 66 Impala or cringe... a Chrysler.

And while I'm sitting here thinking about where to throw this grenade....

I think that roof looks better on the Caprice then it looked on the Fury! Ha! Drum roll.

To quote Howard and the white boys, She ain't good looking but she sure can cook.

The car has hidden headlights like my Cougar and they are probably vacuum operated which means a large tank. The one pictured is for the Cougar but it is hidden between the inner fender and outer fender on the passenger side of a Cougar.
