no moltor is no big deal. Just part out an E-body :)))
You can buy 440s without big problems

but I have to buy it and ship it to gemrany... better not at my first car shipping ;)

AND it costs me a lot more money to ship a not drivable car because then it has to be in a container instead of a Ro/Ro ship.

Yes, there are a few. But very rare and expensive :/
I don't know many RV names, but you can look if you want. (www.mobile.de) Or give me a few names!

But, I think there is nothing under $6-8 Grand...

Yes, I've read about that. But US RV's were never sold in Germany, probably europe. And to find an already pulled out 440 is nearly impossible. So, that's unfortunately not an option for me.

I would pack it on my Florida Road trip in September, but shipping costs me more than the whole car I would put it in ;)

???
Impossible to find running 440s?
Did you ever check the german Mopar board?

I know at least two good running 440s which sold this year

I don't know this site :BangHead:

I found the engine you talked about. As I thought, parts like an engine are very expensive in Germany. They'll ask ~$4000 for the engine without attachment parts. And when I have the engine out of the car, I would rebuild it directly.

My conclusion is, that I won't start with a difficult import like this on my first classic car. I'm searching for a driveable car.

And I think, $2500 is a little bit expensive for a car without an engine.

You're in Germany and you complain that prices for American car parts are too expensive.
I don't understand the logic.
One can move here or instead indulge in VW's.

It's easy ;) It's cheaper for me to import a car from the Us then buy a car that is already in gemany. The prices here outrageous...

I have to pay 12-15k € (~$20,000) in Germany for a car like the one that slipped me through my fingers.
Thats approx three times more as if I import it by myself...

I want a car that I car drive and restore it step by step. I'm not searching for a car where I first have to put an engine in.

sorry but your are comparing beans and apples. The blue 71 belongs to our user "nitoh" here. Itwas purchased in the US via the imperialclub for at least twice as much as Stan (commando1) claims. Original paint, perfect original interieur. Then it was delivered to Houston and a local us repair shop did work to it for around 4k$ (if I remember correctly). After that it got shipped (1400 $), unloading container etc (700$), importpaperwork (200$), importtax (on everything til that point), then transportation from Rotterdam to Hamburg. He has got definetly more than 15k$ in it.

What do you think does it cost to restore or refresh an Imperial correctly?
Or do you just want to put on some lipstick and cheap mexican seats?

it does depend on the location of the car.
If you want to make it cheap you won't have your own container (20 Feet) but book a space in a 40 Feet container.
A half container (size you need for a full size) will cost you between 1.400 and 1800$. But that is the container rate alone. Before that you have to organize the shipping to the harbour. Most of you will know how much it costs. Most US shipping companies charger around 100-150$ for the exportpaperwork additionally. You will need a seefraight insurance. it depends on the value of a car and should be at least cover stranding cover. Minimum costs are around 100$. Next big thing is the unloading and setting (getting it from the boat to the docks and deloading company) that is usally around EUR 500,- (close to 700$). Next thing is the importpaperwork (Eur 150, around 230 $). Then there is importduties on everything (the car, the shipping, loading etcetcetc). Finally the car will need to be transported from the harbor to your home. So it all ads up if you count it together. The shipping rate for the container alone is just half of the game.
