Not much for the convertibles I am but I thought I found something rare (nope) with this one as it has air conditioning, price point for Long Island seems to be low IMHO.

Wish the pictures were better, looks like a nice car. I wonder what that black paint is hiding. Hopefully nothing.

Yea I think the comment of "older restoration" maybe the scary part, but who knows, it needs to have some good eyes on it to tell.
But... the 8 grand price point for Long Island makes me think that the owner knows it's a bucket of bondo.

I looked at this car around Thanksgiving and it photographs much better than it actually is. Lots of bondo on bottoms of 1/4's, rust bubbling through on hood and rear deck lid, rockers. Trunk floor repaired with sheet metal. Interior needs a rug, front seat springs worn, it felt like I was sitting in a hole. Underside was rusty.
As for the positives the top was in good shape if I remember correctly and went up and down on its own. The engine sounded fine and had plenty of power, trans shifted as it should. Front drum brakes were very touchy.
It is an ambitious project if you are good with metal work. The guy was cool and was looking for offers, but it was much too much for me.
If you are interested I probably have his contact # in my old phone, it would take a little bit for me too find.
