That 30000 mile Polara I looked at in the summer had a engine that did not look good but it was original.

Check every bulb. There will be at least one replacement bulb. Even the saviest con artist would not think of that.

My Challenger went through three signal bulbs before 30000 and now at 36000 another is bad

That's just the Impact when your Senior citizen neighbor backs into your car every 6k mls. ;)

The steering coupler seal has been replaced with the orange high temperature one - does not reflect a 366 mile car.

I can't believe based on all the oil and fuel leakage in the engine compartment. Then, of course, the fact that it is on eBay which is almost as notorious as Craigslist nowadays. Subtract out the two obvious bidders both looking for the reserve in $100 and $50 increments and we have no one bidding on it at the moment. First bidder I have seen before as every brand seems to have one guy who ALWAYS throws in an early bid and then disappears. If I were a serious bidder I wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole now.

i'm conflicted on this one too

paint- looks original including stripes

chrome on dash- excellent, not much yellowing on numbers

pedal trim looks quite scratched but pedal rods look like new

wing nut for spare could have been misplaced while detailing. rust stain is the right size for the missing reverse bucket

seats are probably rock hard and split the first time they were sat on

underhood looks all correct except for the new belt. i think what looks like oil stains could be just shiny. some steam cleaners use a substance like kerosene which leaves a shiny oily type of residue.

look close around the rear window and there are rust bubbles

trim , wheelcovers and pot metal grille look excellent

rust at rear is somewhat typical. water runs down the trunk lid ,over the tail lights and behind the bumper causing the reverse light buckets to rust out.

seller could be right but without a personal inspection, we'll never know

I was ready to call BS based on the seat tear and the oil on the valve covers. But the pedals....

Those don't look like pedals that have 100k in wear on them.

Yeah, but valve covers can be repainted, too. Or find 4 matching tires rather than one original and three replacements. There's something weird with that car. Maybe it's a disconnected odometer. Maybe it's for real. Maybe it's something else.

All of this is simple and plain BS as to it being a 366-mile car. There are a BUNCH of red flags here - too many to really list! Good Gawd, the chipped paint, rust where it is, wear patterns, the dashboard lettering is faded from wear, the lack of paint on the block, valve covers and such. The undercarriage is seriously surface-rusted. You do NOT get rust like this in storage, unless it's OUTSIDE for a significant time in a humid climate. This is 100,366 at the least. I've inspected enough cars for paying clients over the past thirteen years to raise the BS flag high on this Fury. It's currently bid to $5,100 and it probably at the place it needs to be.

Yep, two new bidders who aren't bidding in nickles and dimes. However, statiscally, cars with reserves rarely meet their reserves. Years ago I added up a couple of brands where the auction had ended and those with reserves sold between 15-19% of the time.

My 90k Polara has the orange one, I doubt it was replaced, the installation looks to good.

I went out in my garage and looked at a number of original low mileage 69 and 70 C bodies, and not one of them had an orange seal. Yours is a police car it appears, and for those units, maybe they did install a high temperature one. But for this 69 Sport Fury, I doubt it.

The pedals in my 1970 Monaco with over 112,000 miles are original and look better than that Fury. I'm sure pedal condition would depend on things like who drove the car, how they drove the car and where they drove the car. The inner fenders on my car looked much like that Fury's until I recently painted them. I'm no MOPAR expert but I seriously have my doubts about it being a 366 mile car.

No, this is the "Other Polara", I still say it wasn't replaced.

I brought up another part once and not one person here ever saw one but without a doubt it was original so I'd need more before I say the orange seal isn't original.

The original owner disconnected the odometer right after buying it.
Way too much debate on rediculous stuff.
It has a lot of miles on it.

Well then it's settled. Stan has spoken.

Please excuse the hell out of all of us for enjoying a good discussion on an interesting case/car.

It was fun while it lasted boys emoticonbigsmile.gif
