I'm never happy......lol j/k

actually, yes........now i have my polara rag and my full size stick. Good way to start 2014.

Congrats and good luck with it. You try to mostly drive as is or start a resto right away, I see some work coming up.

I knew you were going to pick this one up after about the 5th or 6th time we discussed it.
Congrats Ponch!!!

excellent...... you happy yet?
Mark was keeping me abreast on his progress on this car. When he said it was a done deal, I jumped for joy for him and then asked: Are you happy yet? He said .........
"No. Not until....."
.......:laughing4:

Oh, am I?

Thanks to all for the nice comments......stopped by Penndot this AM, titled it in my name, good thing I looked at it before leaving the window because they mixed the names up and it was incorrect. It's titled as an antique too, will register it once it is officially roadworthy. Not sure when it is coming yet:

Sweet car mark. A straight shift GP is an odd duck for sure. Makes me wonder what the original owner was thinking.

I have to be a prick and mention one itsey-bitsey thing here. That year Grand Prix wasn't a full sized model. It was based on the GM mid-size line.

He was around 37 when he bought the car and he ordered it that way. Passed away awhile back which is too bad as it's a 'local' car, bought new in Hershey.

I got you this car for $2,000.00.... why didnt you just 4 speed this? Or, 6.4 it with a 6 speed?

We had this conversation already. Once I got bent out of shape on the burg one it was over.

I have respect for Mark for how he can make you bang your head.

RE: midsize/fullsize... Close enough for me, too.
I'm in love with tjat car!!
Odd thing: Some researching has shown some sources claiming a 3 speed as not avaiable. Has to be a 1 of 1. Just has to be.

With a little practice Mark's ready for a four speed somewhere around next year. :)

No Stan, it is one of either 301 or 338 depending on what source one can find. 3 spd manual was the base tranny but very few ordered it, prob because the wealthier demographic was buying the GP.

i found info yesterday on trans and engine breakdown............stick production is as follows:

713 had a 4 spd, 301 had a 3 speed = 1014

of 4 spds, 683 were M20, 30 were M21 = 713

of m20, 287 with 400, 302 with 428, 94 with 428 HO

of m21, 2 with 400, 6 with 428 and 22 with 428 HO

of 3 spd (M13 Dearborn), 277 with 400, 21 with 428 and 3 with 428 HO (they only used the ford trans this year, and again, depending on what you read it is either due to a strike or the fact that GM didn't have a 3 spd that could handle the torque of the big engines). They were used in some other GM cars as well.

Disclaimer: there is also info out there that says 676 were 4 speeds and 338 were 3 speeds, not sure if either of these numbers is correct. My car is supp one of 277 with a base 400/3 spd out of a total of 112,486 cars made (.24% of production). It also has pdb,ps,am/fm,rwd,pw, ac and spec order color, not sure if it has any other options or not.
