Apart from the lost parts, the running Hurst was also in worse condition than what I expected.

she seems very clean !!

But when it arrived, it looked a bit different.. Overall it was very rusty, and a lot of it was in need of welding, in "inaccessible areas", (and a lot more welding than I would ever be able to do.)
(Will post all pic's some sunny day)

I had talked to a budy-guy about doing the rear quarters, (as the seller pointed out would need repaired), but when he saw the car irl, he ran away screaming!

hum, yes it has rust but nothing compared to mine :)
after all it depends on the price you paid.

On the way home, it caught fire.. (of course in a gas station). Some Albanian immigrants got some free action, when the huge monster suddenly ROARED towards them, away from the pumps with the hood wide open... spewing flames :-D But I got the flames extinguished with a bucket of windshield water, and made it home.

It also had all sorts of mechanical problems from sitting, mixed with rust issues. I wore out a few wire-brushes, and got it running decently without major cost. It still had lots of TNT power, and even thought my 69 300 had "a nice selection of sporty engine parts" installed, it was impressively fast.

it is weird, mine caught fire too on the highway!
But it wasn't very important : a bunch of leaves were on the exhaust and caught fire..
i ran 700 km with it after it leave the container. the nad thing is that there was minimum oil in the rear axle but only a bearing was dead. we had luck.
During the trip everything that was non working starts to work during the trip.. so we were lucky again.

If you have some pares parts you want to sell...
i will need 2 things :
- 1 non bent deck lid
- some lowerbody trim.

I've seen this car before. A Looooong while back.

I have seen this car too, Gary. At least six months ago, I called this guy from Higgins, TX and talked to him at length. At the time, the car was stored in Oklahoma (I think). The guy was actually a semi-retired dealer who was handling the sale for the owner. He claimed the car was "A Number 1 Car." I enjoyed talking to him, but clearly, he has no clue as to how to rate the condition of a collector / classic car. I think this car - at best - is a #4 car, and it is probably worth about a third of the asking price.

you should clearify which car you talk about.

The blue 300 Hardtop?
The black 300 CV
The Hurst?

I know that you mean the currently painted black 300 vert but none of the other users do.
But a friend of mine has talked to the older sales guy, too and the car still has the oklahoma plates

Looked great from the outside, but it was NOT clean when you looked closer.. When I shot the pictures, I was NOT trying to document the rust issues. The car was restorable, but all over the body, especially the underside of all sheet metal, had "deep surface rust".. the kind that would not sand down, but had to be wire brushed or blasted, and would then leave scarred surface, prone to rust again.

Paid 9000 USD for car and parts ! (in 2005)

Ha ha, and my 69 too.. (twice if electrical fires count)..

But it wasn't very important : a bunch of leaves were on the exhaust and caught fire..
The Hurst fire was caused by me, spilling transmission fluid, onto the ex-manifold, causing a small fire, which again ignited a gas leak that I hadn't noticed, further down the engine bay near the firewall.. Lesson learned that day = "Transmission fluid ignites when presented to hot manifold".

Ha ha.. funny! Your "maiden Hurst voyage" sounds a bit my electrical fire.. after that fire, a lot of things came to life.. even the horn, although I strongly suspect the horn relay for causing the short, that led to the fire killing my Frankenstein wire harness! :-(

Mine is bent too.. nearly all of them are.. it's a well known "springs are victorious over fiber glass after years of tension" sort of a problem for Hurst owners..

Please send me pictures of your deck lid, and I will compare it to mine.

To be honest, I really don't wanna sell it that much, as it would kill my naughty dreams to do a "Fake Hurst", but I also respect, that you got the real deal, and that it would be "the right thing" to do, so let's see how bad / bent yours is.

- some lowerbody trim.
There is another guy here in Denmark, who imported a 70 vert, stripped almost completely of trim.. and he is also looking to buy.. I recall he mentioned that he was especially interested in the wheel well trim. I think that I have a more or less complete set of 70 trim in "driver condition".. and some of the pieces I have double, but do send me a list of which pieces you need, and I'll give him a call too, and ask what he needed.. I hope you both can get what you need!

Be aware, that the trim is NOT perfect.. but they are here in Europe (Tax free), and worth to check out. (AND they are genuine Hurst trim :) from the one pictured above, all buried in foliage.

The trim is probably all mixed up with my 69 trim parts, after evacuating storage in a hurry in December, but hey.. all lower trim is "70 specific", so they should easily sorted..

PS: What tax percentage, and fee's do you have to pay in France, when importing parts from US?

PS: What tax percentage, and fee's do you have to pay in France, when importing parts from US?

the customs collect the main tax :

- the main taxe in france are 20 %, it is the TVA ( taxe à la valeur ajoutée ). We pay TVA on everything.
- the TVA is reduced from 20 to 5% for classic cars ( more than 30 years and still original )

when you import a car or part, you have to pay the TVA + fees :

- TVA calculated on the price of the part ( or car ) + shipping costs ( ! )
- customs/harbour charges : around 600 €
- foar small package parts : 10€ of charges

For parts, this is diffrent is they are big or small :

- small part in small package, you have a chance to skip customs : the seller send directly to your adress with usps and if it goes well you have no taxes.
- big parts : you have to pay the customs. it can be very expensive if it goes with groups like DHL or Fedex that always declare to the customs.

:yaayy:what !
i paid mine practically the same price ! ( but at this time, the euro was very strong so I saved a lot of money )
I think 9000 $ is a very good price !

cool. but I can send you the trunk lid from my hurst too. I do not need 2 :)

I will tell you what trim is missing on the hurst. I do not need much part after that.

Koop thread guys. I absolutely love the Black and Tan convertible, maybe my new favorite color combo for one of those.

I was about to ask if you wanted to sale the 330 H trunklid and extensions when I noticed that you are in Denmark. Im guessing it is not Denmark Kentucky?

I have a hurst trunk deck and hood if anyone on here is interested. The problem is I really don't want to mess with shipping it but I want to see them go to a C body guy. I would take $600 for the pair if you figure out how to get them home from Nebr.

Condition? Do you have the hardware for the hood (hinges, hood locks) any warpage?

Any problem storing it for 60 days?

Gee Carsten. . . I'm sorry. I didn't realize the post was talking about three different cars. I replied to Gary's post, which I think referred to the black 300 convertible. Is Gary confused too ?
