I've seen worse things done to these cars, this one I like.

...
Color looks surprisingly good. Way better than the PCP or flat black I'd expect....

That was one of the colours on the short list for my convertible, but it's one of those that looks best in direct sunlight. A cloudy day makes it rather muddy looking.

I think the color combo is nice, but it ends there. Interior stinks, no air, etc. I don't think it would make 6.5K.

In Europe, they don't generally care about a/c or not, although many prefer a car without it, but maybe they would care about the flex hose. That car in Germany, for example, would easily bring $12K I believe. I have seen it happen many times (not by me). And they aren't always so worried about a few mods either. Depends. Here in the U.S. I might agree with you.

Agree except the Euro ain't what it used to be... Have overseas sales slowed any? I don't follow it that close when I have nothing to sell.

A random oddball color. Flex hose. No inner fender splash shields. I bet putting my eyeballs on this car will confirm what I suspect. "Restored" for the visual appeal to the unwashed masses only.
"Screw the details. I wanna get thumbs up everwhere I go"...
Ordinarily I agree with you Stan, but cannot do so today -- at least not on this car.
I don't know why the color was chosen, but it's a modern color, and complements the tan of the interior very well (as does the retro fabric pattern). These colors were chosen very deliberately, and if on a new 300 we'd all drool.

Look at these flanks, and the trunklid (and the hood is the same). Seriously straight and glass-smooth. I have a hard time believing this is anything other than a high-quality job.

But the kicker? The wheelcovers. No Mustang Bullit wheels, or TorqThrusts, or other 17" stuff. This guy is marching to his own beat, and he's not too far from the rest of us if he'll roll on WW and wheelcovers.

This car was a labor of love (or at least subcontracted love) for whomever got it to this point.

And FWIW, 1 of my cars has a flexhose. I needed a hose, it's what they had, it fits, and it's serving its purpose.

Well maybe if some of you don't like the color or lack of vinyl top you will like this car better:

There is no real slowing from what I am seeing. Even with a weak Euro, they still have a lot of money compared to the norm in this country. They shun credit and they have a smart government fiscally with a tax structure that makes us look retarded.

I have to agree that at least the body work and paint on this car are exemplary from what I am seeing.

The body and especially the paint are truly drop-dead gorgeous. I just wont be blinded by it.
A pretty face will always grab my attention. After grabbing my attention it's begging for more scrutiny.

Is that the magenta color? I just picked up a conv. With original magenta exterior ...repainted black

If I was asking for that color... Black Cherry... probably a factory Lexus color or something. I like it, but it isn't correct or restored or any of that. I'm not about to devote any time to tearing into it, I don't follow these close enough to make a fair price. My best guess... the paint and body cost more than he will see out of this one, but he might find "the one".

why cant it be an original color just applied to todays standards
Because it would be green or brown and we all know how we line up for those colors.:D

Although, ironically, either color would go well with the tan interior and wheelcovers.

Let's be hopeful... It could be the black cherry color from 1988/89 5th Avenues.
