Not sure if this is the right place for it, but I'm having a little issue. Saw a 70 drop top C body on craigslist the other day, and asked the owner for some general information on the car. They gave me a picture of when the original owner got the car, and that picture shows a 300 (I think, I'm more of a B body guy). They also sent me more current pictures, and the cars are not the same. The current pictures show a New Yorker (again, not positive, but the emblem that says New Yorker is a good give away).
Am I missing something here, or are these two different cars?

New to C bodies, though before registering I have browsed the for sale forums, checking to see if one's got a mobile director -always thought that was cool as hell. Been on B bodies for more than a year, and have been doing up a 68 roadrunner. The rr is taking its sweet time, so I'm trying to get something that could be decently put together in a month or so. No question here, just a little background.

Thank you very much -Garrett

That car definitely looks like a different model than was shown in older pics. It looks like a basket case from the pics I can see. Unless all parts are included, or your getting cheap I'd reconsider it being a 1 month quick project.

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! They do look like two different cars all right judging by the missing trim on the old photo. There are others on this board with more expertise with this generation Chrysler that will chime in.
Mobile Director was '67 '68 Imperial coupe only.

Thanks guys. The car comes with a lot of parts, ill just paste the ad wording in. I know C bodies aren't anything that you get your money back out of, so what would yall think its worth?

Ad:
Dad's baby--he bought it when it was 3 months old. Restoration was in progress when Dad became unable to continue. Painted beautiful factory blue with white leather top. NO RUST in floor pans or trunk deck. Transmission is attached. Driveline, rear end, and re-arched springs are COMPLETE.
- 440 cubic inch raised block, newly rebuilt, still in assembly lube (cost about $4,100)
- Lock-up overdrive 727 TorqueFlite transmission
- 2.72 limited slip 8.75 ring gear rear end
- Fresh, new torque convertor, front pump style lockup overdrive 727
- 8 ¾" ring gear limited slip (clutch type 2.72 rear end)
- "Moog" replaced front end completely done
- New, still in cosmolined wrapping, front and rear chrome original bumpers
- All glass & chrome complete -- No Damage or cracks to dashboard
- Electric front seats
- Lots of new parts never installed: Robbins convertible top, factory number seat upholstery both front seats and rear bench seats, "formed" carpet
- Needs paint and simple body work; no rust to speak of!!

They are asking what I paid for my roadrunner, and I just didn't think that these cars pulled that in project condition.

Can you find out the first 6 digits of the vin? Let's determine what it is first.

Been waiting on the vin for a couple hours, asked for it as soon as I saw the chrome not on the old picture but on the new ones. Will be putting it up as soon as I get ahold of it.

Thank you very much

So, c body, medium price class, drop top, not too sure of the T, 1970, and which ever plant C stands for. Not sure what the medium price class for a C body denotes.

I'm pretty sure all New Yorker's were CS. No drop top NY'ers for 1970.

1 of 1077 300 convertibles. It's nice that it sounds like they've put some money into it but these cars in driver condition go for maybe 8K + or -? (I'm asking/guessing)
Bump it up to #2 condition with nice paint and I think mid teens. (Again guessing)
love the color!

It could be a really nice car with some work. From the pics and description, it sounds solid and there's some good pieces that are included in the deal. I like the color too.

The New Yorker trim is bogus though and I'm concerned that the 300 trim (like the grille and tail lights) are missing. The screwy cornering lights in the bottom of the front fender is something they have added on.

I looked at the ad and they are out of their mind on the price. Decent 70 300 convertibles go for $10-15K tops and really nice ones for under $20. That's turn key... This is a project.

Do yourself a favor.... There's tons of C bodies that are posted here every day for less that run and drive. The top may not go down, but if you want something until your Roadrunner is done... you can do something for less money and a lot less work.

I also believe there wasn't any Fusie Ny'er or Formal NY'er convertibles.
